REVIEW - Read before purchasing. [AMENDED REVIEW]: After giving it a bit more time I've ammended my review and tacked on one more star. I was really looking forward to this and I purchased it in support of the game being premium this is a GOOD game, but a few things prevent it from being a great one, the most disappointing of all being that it feels a little unfinished. In addition to this, I have some quibbles which will hopefully be addressed in an update: - Audio for attacks is strangely subdued, and mostly identical for all attack types. Attacks lack oomph and their audio feels generic. - This game screams for a more robust save system. Losing my progress because I have to make an important phonecall and haven't found a checkpoint yet is infuriating. Manual saves in addition to the checkpoint system would be a godsend. - It's difficult to discern the different attack orbs during battle, there should be some sort of text label encircling each orb, at least when you tap and hold, before dragging. I'd go further and say that there should be a logical arrangement: low, medium, high, specials. Currently I think it's medium, low, special, high, special (beast). I have to frequently access the character sheet during battle to figure out what I'm doing as it's currently set up. - But the biggest gripe of all is that the game feels like an incomplete one at times. Despite all this, it's still a fun and engrossing game with spectacular artistic direction and animation. I'd *very reservedly* recommend this, perhaps wholeheartedly so once the issues have been addressed...but no developer should be charging premium prices for a beta. Hopefully more class unlocks (without a paywall), more character customization and maybe a pvp update is in the works.
While not strictly gaming related, I just realized that the Kobojo offices are located just across the river from the horrific attacks that Paris suffered yesterday. For the little it's worth, my thoughts are with you. I was working in DC during the 9/11 attacks against New York, the Pentagon, and the plane that was brought down in Pennsylvania. I vividly remember the confusion, sadness, and anger. I had several neighbors and colleagues at the Pentagon that morning and the uncertainty was absolutely maddening. I sincerely hope that everyone at Kobojo and all of your family and friends are physically okay and that you all have the support needed to help you through this tragic event. I wish you all the best.
Maybe Kobojo will issue a statement explaining when those features will be implemented. That said, I'm enjoying the game and it certainly has enough hooks to keep me playing.
I've been playing for a day and a half now and I use Ulan and Kayden. All my characters are level 35 to 40 is? Anyone else find gold to be completely useless? I have about 4 million gold and theirs nothing that I need to buy. Shops don't really update.
HI all I'm enjoying the game this far. I'm just wondering is this a f2p trap with all the classes not available? I hope they do not do that pretend premium then screw us last minute
I think the developers ran out of fund. However I do feel this game gonna be great once they fix all the issues
yeah, it doesn't in the app store discription: FEATURES -Scenario by Final Fantasy writer Kazushige Nojima -Music from legendary composer Hitoshi Sakimoto -Art Direction by CyDesignation, the Japanese production company led by Hideo Minaba - -Classic JRPG combat system meets slick, fast-paced gameplay -Visually striking hand-drawn graphics-Over 200 unique upgradeable weapons -Bring your friends with you into battle
I find it weird that the animated cutscenes switch between different animation styles randomly. I understand that different animators worked on the project but assumed they would all do so to match the final product. Some are amazing and others are almost moving cutouts. I'm only a little way in, but cleared the first dungeon and was wondering if there was some way to grind?
Really disheartening about the ending basically being replaced with 'we didn't make an ending so please wait for it to added later'
Chaos rings 3 and come back to this when the game is fully complete. This game is beautiful and fun. Once bugs are tweaked this will a great game and as long as they don't do a f2p platform
I would say CR3 only because that is my number one mobile RPG title. I wouldn't recommend any non-port RPG over CR3 ever so it's not saying Zodiac is bad but I don't see any game competing with CR3 except maybe a CR4. CR3 is a near perfect game and a masterpiece.
I noticed something when I was reading the game's profile on the App Store. Specifically, the version number of the game: 0.6.4 I'm not sure if this is a typo or what, but doesn't a number below 1.0 usually signify an incomplete/Beta version of the game? I really hope they finish this game soon, it's so beautiful and yet clunky at the same time. I'm especially curious if the other jobs for Cael are even in the game files yet, aside from their picture on the journal/skill tree screen. All three in-game classes aside from Cael's default are Magic based, and from looking at the silhouettes of the other classes, there appear to be a 40/60 split of physical and magic jobs, but I can't be sure from just silhouettes. As for Chaos Rings 3 I really hope they do a sequel, there were a few plot ends left hanging. Having the original VAs was also a very nice surprise, as Japanese VAs are typically very, very good at their job compared to English VAs.
