Ooo, an action-oriented Zelda-ish title of iPhone? I'm intrigued. It looks like a fairly traditional Korean MMO in the sense that you walk around, kill monsters, and the interface shows what looks like a quick-select bar for various skills, much like you see in MMORPGs that allow you to use quick-slots on the F1-F12 keys to swiftly activate magic, skills or items. I hope these slots on the iDevices won't be too small, or it could be a hassle to have to push the tiny buttons in the middle of a fight and accidentally use up your last health potion when you don't need it. I could have missed this, and forgive me if I did, but does anyone know if this is a solely single-player affair, multiplayer only, or both?
Not too excited by the menu appearing with okay button - too much like it was an afterthought production for the touch and iphone. But another 'rpg' in the app store is always a good thing. It would be nice however to see it soon in English!
Hi everyone, this is Young. I wrote the preview for Zenonia. I was browsing through some of the comments and thought I'd answer some questions that were posted. The d-pad is definitely better than the point & click method. You feel more in control of the game, and having played both Co and Zenonia, yeah, Zenonia thoroughly beats CoI on this. I do have to say though, Zenonia's controls, while good, aren't as good as say Hero of Sparta, which btw I feel has the best control scheme I've used. I found that the slots on the interface aren't too small. As for the items, if you go to the preview and look at screen shot 3, you'll notice a circle with two green arrows on it. This is a quick slot for your items. You can scroll through them, if you set your items there, by flicking down. The other slots are for your spells and skills. They're spaced apart far enough that they can be accessed easily. I don't think I made any mistakes with choosing them in-game. Also, this is a single player game. There is a whole story line that takes about 40 hours to finish. Interestingly enough, though, there's a network option to see rankings, back up/restore your character, and some stuff in Korean about friends. Since I played an Alpha build, none of these worked. Menu navigation is similar to Baseball Superstars 2009. Both these games are ports, so menu navigation and so forth isn't optimized for the iDevice. With the virtual d-pad, though, this is not an issue BTW, HI SHIGZEO!!!!!!!!
Hi Young and Shigs too! Btw Young, you might want to remove the reference to our job, because arn the admin doesn't permit that. Under self promotion rule You are lucky you ready have Zenonia, but I am sure the rest of us will get our Betas this weekend. Thank you for info!!!
they laggin on the betas? bet all of you testers are eagerly waiting for it. oh those beta testers days...
- Is the food/ weapon damage mechanic gets annoying i.e. do you have to do it too often? - Are there environmental puzzles? - does the game ramp up well from normal enemies to sub bosses to bosses? Are boss fight just slashing away or hitting weak points, stuff like that?
It doesn't get as annoying as it did in GTA: San Andreas. It actually takes a while for all these things to take affect. It's just enough to add an extra level of complexity to the game. So far, I've played about 2+ hours, I haven't run across any environmental puzzles. This is more RPG than Adventure... more Secret of Mana than Legend of Zelda. I haven't come across any bosses yet, but I believe there are bosses. I don't know any specifics concerning this. My guess, though, is that since this is not like The Legend of Zelda in terms of its philosophical take on gameplay it will not have a zelda-esque style boss battle.
So, it's not Zelda-ish at all, apart from the graphics? A pity. So, since combat is all there is, how is it? Looked like a simple click-fest in the video...
Go to 1:28, he pushes a block into place to cause some event, this is why I assumed eventually there would be Zelda-like block puzzles.
I'm a beta tester for Zenonia and the group of us should be receiving our Betas tomorrow. It's not done being tested yet.
Any word on how much the game will be?? I wanna be prepared and make sure I have enough money on my iTunes account when it comes out!
