"Clearly"? Incorrect. A mere ignorant assumption on your part and you still had the gall to act all high and mighty about it. I read your post. I know it wasn't a definitive "/thread" statement, but it fell within a similar vein. Nevertheless, I was generalizing, and what syntheticvod said still makes sense. For what it's worth, I don't think GOF2 comes close to matching the atmosphere of some of the other games mentioned.
I never said his point didn't make sense. I said it was weak in terms of argument. And no. Not ignorant. Basing my statements off evidence does not make me ignorant. The statement was arguable, and since we are in a forum, it was meant to be discussed. I thought this was obvious, unless you're really lost on the web. Your generalizations are poor. GOF 2's light/shadowing outleagues most of the games mentioned in this thread. I mean people mentioning incoboto... seriously? A 2D game? There's not even enough dimensions to make it atmospheric as GOF2.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/atmospheric herpderp hurrr huu Too many prepubescent teenagers here getting upset. I'm out. Clearly not a forum for the emotionally-stable.
We are not saying "name a game that "has a atmosphere" geez use your head. We mean games that suck you in from start to finish that have a unique style about them. So yes incoboto is included and yes GOF is also included but I don't know anyone playing that game nonstop
at this point in society kids are undergoing puberty even at age 8, way before teen years. get up to date, stop being ignorant, and sorry, i deleted gof2 pretty damn quick.
It's a perfectly solid argument. Anybody can talk crap online; this is a fundamental fact of how the internet works. How can you possibly find a flaw in that logic? There was no evidence I hadn't read your post either, unless of course you just didn't understand the fact I was generalizing in the first place. As for whether or not the generalizations are poor, well... now you're just throwing out random sentences with no weight in some kind of desperate attempt to discredit me. And atmosphere is so much more than lighting.
In other words its nothing to do with how many dimensions a game has and everything to do with the mood of the game and the emotions it evokes. Thanks for the complement though. It's nice to know I'm still looking young as I'm coming up to my 41st birthday. Games I'd nominate: Dead Space Canabalt Another World
There are loads of great ones mentioned already. My favs would be Sword and Sworcery Penumbear Year Walk Bastion Windowsill
You all are making me wanna play this game... will start it this week! (It was already on my to-play list, now I just bumped it up near the top XD)
