You have me sold on it. :) I unloaded my iPad 4 because it only had 16 GB of storage and I always had space issues. I'm planning to buy an iPad 5 once it's releases. This game has moved to the top of my list. Unfortunately I just lost my job so everything might be on hold for a bit. :(

Sorry to hear that klink. Hope you get sorted soon :(

I would also recommend upgrading to at least a 64gb unit when you next purchase a tablet as XCOM is over 3gb installed # and more and more games are well over a gig. Smaller memory is a false economy if you are a serious iOS gamer

considering I've seen the PC version as low as like 7 bucks during Steam Sales (and I bought it at full pop, 39.99)... I would be hard pressed to even pay $9.99 for a version that might be completely broken on my iPad2.

Oh how I long for the day when all purchases will be universal.

I disagree. Using my iPad mini to play and the touch controls are just not responsive enough. Picking spots to walk to isn't accurate, having levels of zoom instead of a smooth transition doesn't really feel right on a touch device, and the elevation thing is kind of annoying. Also it feels like sometimes the buildings seem to go transparent or opaque at random when you're trying to go inside them.
I just feel it's more comfortable to play with a mouse the way it is designed.
It is still fun to play, just not when it crashes.

Thanks I appreciate that. It's the nature of doing IT contract work.

Hopefully, Apple will come to their senses and not release a 16GB iPad 5. Off the bat the Retina iPad has less available storage space and most App installs are quite a bit more sizable. XCOM 3GB install size is a perfect example.

For people with an iPad mini there was a possible temporary fix on the 2k support forums.
Unfortunately it seems something's broken with the internet here (level3.net seems to be down in some areas so can't access a number of sites) so I'm writing this by memory.

    1) Go to settings and log out of Game Center.
    2) Go to XCom and turn off Auto-Save and save the settings.
    3) Restart your iPad mini.
    4) Go to Game Center and make sure you are still logged out.
    5) Play the game.

The poster mentioned that he had only 1 crash after doing this.

I was weary of turning off Auto-Save since if it did crash I would lose all my progress so I skipped that part.

After 2 levels I did have a crash, but it autosaved 1 round before it did so I was fine. I'm not sure if turning off Auto-Save makes that much of a difference so I'm posting it here for anyone else who manually saves a lot to try it out.

Sale was too short. Not spending $20 on this. I will gladly wait for the next inevitable sale.

They should leave this game at 10 bucks and be done with it.

You're getting a top quality console game in mobile form for $20. There's a ton of stuff packed in this game for that price.

Plus they said the game has sold very well with the $20 price tag, so I hope to see more top quality games like this in the AppStore since has done well. So no, I think $20 is fine to encourage more big console games like this on iOS, much better than the crap load of idiotic freemium games people end up spending $10-$20 on.

    Why ?
Game was made on very high budget ( if you can comprehend what that means and how much risk/ manpower was put into this product) and you get same gameplay / story as PC version of it, only thing that was scaled is graphic ( and 2K China did an awesome job on pushing hardware limits on that ).If you own it on PC or console and think it's expensive to buy it again , I can get your point, but statements like this not backed with any explanations doesn't do any good for your reputation on forum ( at least in my eyes ).

Maybe they pushed the hardware too hard. Too many crashes on iPad mini. I'm really liking the game though and thinking about getting it for PC when it's on sale again.

Why do people feel the need to publicly inform everyone that they're cheap?

It's not worth 20 bucks, they won't pay 20 bucks, they're waiting for a sale...

Fine, whatever, but why do people feel the need to announce things like that?

    Perplexing...

It's probably the same people who have to announce that they're "baked" when playing online games when nobody even asked. (Pet peeve of mine)

People on public forums generally post what ever they like, for reasons we will never know... I believe this is the nature of Internet forums.

One could make the same sort of post about your post...

why does one feel the need to complain about people who complain?

    who cares?

ignore, enjoy your game for what ever price you paid and go about your day

in my case, if the game wasn't potentially broken for the device I own, I'd have picked it up at $9.99 (despite paying full pop for the PC version, which is phenomenal.)

In fact, even with the possibility of it being broken for my iPad2, I decided I was going to grab the game at $9.99 only to find the sale had come and gone. Snooze you lose I suppose...
