Up to this point I've done most of my gaming on my PC (and my ipod touch). But now our family is moving into a smaller house and I have to put my computer down in the living room so I can share with my Dad. I figure if I'm gonna be gaming in the living room anyway I might as well get a console to play on our new 40 inch TV. So what should I get? I like a lot of different kinds of games though more than any others I enjoy rpg's and fps's. Unfortunately I also have strict parents who allow very few m-rated games. (if any, I think I can convince them to let me play halo, but that's about it.) They also don't let me play online. As far as the hardware goes I don't really care though I think I like the 360 controller just a little bit better. I don't really want a wii, they're fun and I am a bit of a nintendo fanboy but I do most of my gaming alone soooooo. What should I get?
I've got a 360, but if you're not going to have multiplayer, then I think you should get a PS3, although I've heard that Xbox has more fps'.* *I've only had an Xbox for a while, after getting a 42 inch TV.
*sigh* I am going to kick myself for saying this but... PS3. It has more Exclusives these days and a good portion of them arn't M rated. Though that sucks you can't play online or play violent games. Those are the best kind. The 360 is awesome though, don't get me wrong I am a Fanboy of both. I don't participate in the violent "360 vs. PS3" debates. Let's just say though that as of this year, I play my PS3 WAYYYY MORE than my 360... 360 has a better online community (By better I mean more, you have a lot more little kids on there) but the PS3 seems to have more "mature" gamers (by mature I mean not everyone is calling you a fa*got and wanting to f*ck your grandmother) Though I will say more people on 360 have headsets than people on PS3 have headsets. but since you are not playing online that won't really matter much. The controllers are a great debate too. I think the weight and feel of the 360 controller is far superior to the dated tried and true dual-shock controller, however I think the analog sticks of the PS3 controller are more sensative and easier to get that quick sniping pin-point (as far as FPSs go). Plus the chatpad just makes more sense on the 360 (but once again, something for online you need nothing of) It's really up to you man. The PS3 can also play blu-rays, which I don't know if your family has one or not but that's one little leg up on the 360. Once again, they are both great systems, but I think 360 is better for online community playing, and PS3 is better for alone playing. But I play both on both so I can't say much... Hope this helps...? I didn't do much for ya sorry hahahaha
I bought an 360 a few years back and have had nothing but problems with the system, although it is extremely fun to play. I recommend going with the PS3.
So far it's not official but you know that it's going to happen eventually. Sony is pretty money hungry and with the PS3 getting more and more successful by the day, it's only a matter of time. (Plus if they actually already think PSN and Xbox Live is the same RIGHT NOW, and they add a few new features to PSN, then it really is just a matter of time) But who knows, it may not happen afterall but I think it will unfortunately. All I know is PSN better have cross platforming party chatting like 360 before I start paying for anything. That's for DAMN sure. It may not be a huge deal, but I have a lot of friends on both and only on the 360 can I be playing something and talking with someone at the same time while they are playing something completely different. On the PS3 I have to play the same game, or no game at all if I want to chat with someone. That blows. (voice chat that is)
I have an xbox. But you say no M-Rated games (Which is a problem because most good xbox games are M-rated) So I would go PS3 and you can get Ratchet and Clank (Which ironically is coming to the xbox too but not for a while...)
That article is 3 years old and just a rumour. I was under the impression that the subscription will be for new games/films and not online multiplayer. Here is a more recent article: http://gamer.blorge.com/2009/11/23/ps3-premium-psn-subscription-confirmed-with-more-details/ "According to Gamespot, Kaz Hirai, CEO of SCE confirmed plans of creating a new premium PSN service some time next year. Hirai assured PS3 owners that the current PSN service will remain free and the company has no plans to charge gamers to play online."
Ok, my bad I didn't realize how old the article was I just fast searched it, I'll admit. hahahah well good cause PSN frankly doesn't deserve to be anything other than free at this point.
What are some good t-rated ps3 games then? I know I'm gonna get Madden but other than that I'm looking at NFS: Shift, Medal of honor airborne, and elder scrolls 4 oblivion. What else is good?
I have a 360 for, eh, 3 reasons... 1) All my friends have it. 2) Sure, subscription-based, but strong multiplayer service. 3) The controller. Despise the PS3 one, and the way you interact with your games is a big part of the experience. However, I am envious of all the exclusives. LBP, GoW, MGS, I wish I could play 'em all, but it'd mean playing alone.
Final Fantasy XIII (though some would argue it was bad, I loved it) Uncharted 1 & 2, Street Fighter VI, ModNation Racers, MAG (Online Only though) Batman: Arkham Asylum, Little Big Planet to name a few. The first Battlefield: Bad Comapany was rated T I think but I know the second one is rated M. Hard to think of shooters rated T. >.> Call of Duty 3...? I think.
That is exactly why my first of the 2 was a 360. All the same reasons. And it was because of my envy of no GoW, MGS KZ2 and LBPthat I caved and got a PS3. Now it unfortunately gets more action than my 360 hahahah
I would say 360, there's more stuff to do on XBL, and the controllers dont suck, also Is GoW, Gears of War? Cos thats a 360 exclusive, the 360 does get some good exclusives, fable, halo, gears....
GoW is God of War. I abbreviate Gears by GeOW or GeoW. And he's looking for games offline (so that excludes XBL) and he is looking for non rated M games (which excludes Gears). Fable is sick though.
I bought a 360 first too, then it broke twice and I realised that the online service isn't actually that much better. Yes it's slightly better, especially in how friends lists and game invites are handled, but it's really not worth all that money when you consider that PSN is actually a good service regardless. Plus I got annoyed at the 360 controllers d-pad. In all seriousness, the NES d-pad works better. The downside to the PS3 controller is the triggers, which only feel bad until you're used to them... by the time I got my platinum trophy on Burnout Paradise they felt totally natural.
