My favorite controller of all time and still to this day is SNES. Wasn't until all these fancy games came out that you needed the analog sticks... I can beat Street Fighter II for SNES on the hardest difficulty (7) and perfect 80% of the fights on SNES. I could play the exact same game with a PS controller and suck @ss.
the dreamcast failed on so many levels, yet is one of the most loved systems to date. Me personally, I don't get why, but then again, I never had a d'cast.
For me the main reason was the games: Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 Crazy Taxi 1 & 2 House of the Dead 2 (with light gun, and 2-player mode) Jet Set Radio Shenmue Phantasy Star Online (online gaming with 56k!) Skies of Arcadia Power Stone 1 & 2 ...all of those would be included somewhere in my list of favourite games of all time. I've probably forgotten a bunch too... Edit: just remembered, Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive 2.
I think I'm going to stop being a hater and go buy another ps3 this week... lol Can't wait till Final Fantasy comes out in March. Just wouldn't feel right playing it on the 360.
It's BS it will even be available for the 360... It should be exclusive. GoW 3 is coming out around the same time, at least it will be.
I'd strongly recommend reading a little about FF13 before buying it... it is nothing like any of the previous games. No towns/cities... barely any NPCs, the first half of the game (about 25 hours worth) is insanely linear and you don't even meet the first boss until around 8 hours in. To clarify, this is what the map typically looks like for the whole first half of the game: I can't say I'm not disappointed, but I'm still hoping it'll entertain me in a new way.
Yeah I've read about it and am admittedly a little choked up by the reviews But I will still get it anyways and hope for the best. The new battle system sounds interesting. I really don't understand the direction they went regarding no towns/cities and limited NPCs... I've been waiting for a FF game for PS3 since the PS3 came out. I was hoping it would be the best thing ever, but hopefully they are still learning the PS3 h/w and will take in some of the criticism that's been expressed thus far when they start planning for 14.
What're all the good FF games on? Are they old enough that I can pick up a hardware emulator and play? Might pick up a Dreamcast off eBay just for the heck of it if they aren't.
You could emulate all of them up to playstation 1 on a computer. I have no idea if PS2 games work or not, never tried. But with NES, SNES, and PS1 you could have every FF (including Tactics and other "spinoffs" not in the series) up to #9.
They're all on PSX, so they'll also work on PS2 and PS3 (FF7 & FF8 are on the PSN store, which can also be played on PSP), there are some decent remakes on DS of the older FF games . To play FF1-3 you need a NES emulator (or a NES, duh) and for FF4-6 you'll need a SNES emulator.
it's nowhere near the same experience as a nice TV, but since you have a 3rd gen iPod touch, you could technically emulate most of them using that if you jailbreak. 1-7, tactics, and probably nearly all the spinoffs can be emulated on iphone emulators. 8 and 9 currently don't work but probably will after another performance update or 2... no idea about Dreamcast emulators, though if they are available I'm sure NES and SNES would be no trouble. Have no idea about PS
I am only level 13 but I can always pwn higher leveled players (i.e level 50+) lol. I use the SCAR with open sights, I find it easier to aim, I don't like using the red dot sight. Anyone else think that the best kill at the end of the game is never actually the best kill? I always make awesome kills, like killing someone really far away while they are moving and killing them just before they are totally hidden by cover. But then the best kill is usually some really nooby kill like camping and then running up to a player firing full auto at their body.
Well if you think about it, many people on these forums are Apple/Mac users so they are more likely to hate Microsoft and therefore they own a PS3, not an Xbox 360.
Which is kinda contradictory really, Apple products are excellent quality so they have a reason to prefer it, but the 360 is hardly a bad console so ignoring it completely would be ignoring the quality they pretend to promote with their iMacs. RROD aside of course. I like both consoles (and own both) but the PS3 gets the edge.
