Hey i got an xbox360 elite for christmas. but idk how to get online multiplayer. what all do i need for this online multiplayer to work?
Create a gamertag and setup your account, it will ask you to input your name, phone number, address, etc... Do not sign up for xbox live gold online, it's a rip off. you can find 1 year of live for $30 online. Choose a silver account and it will give you a 1 month free of xbox live GOLD!
There is an ethernet port in the back of the 360, connect a cable from your router to the 360. If you have the wireless network adapater than goto settings>network and test connection to get it setup.
you: me: Yes you can get a longer cord. lol here's a link for cheap cables - http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=internet+cable&x=0&y=0 You can get up to 100ft of cable if you want.
lol, i was just joking around! I have mine directly connected with 3 ft cable. Used to use the wireless adapter with no issues. If you want a lot of information on the 360 check out this forum http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=141
cough ps3 is free and has a built in network card: D cough. haha i have all systems though, but no xbox live, to expensive
I heard some rumors that Sony was gonna start charging for online. Did you guys hear anything about that?
sony knows there online is garbage compared to the 360. 360 online is expensive? $30 a year, if you can afford a ps3/360/iphone i'm sure you can afford online
Sony 'looking into' subscription-based PSN services for new revenue stream http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/sony-looking-into-subscription-based-psn-services-for-new-revenue-stream/
so its just for rentals and extra stuff. I could see that. They probably could've gotten away with paid subscription based psn had they done it from the beginning, but they were so insistant on charging $600 for the console that enough people were already ticked off. They would've benefited more in the long run had they just charged $400 for the console and charged $20-40/yr for online service. But its likely too late now to start unless they wanna deal with mobs of angry PS3 owners ready to boycott or switch systems. One things for sure you can expect the PS4 to be subscription based from the get go whenever that comes out. Will be a while.
That argument simply doesn't hold water anymore. I'm on my PS3 a lot, and the last time I recall PSN being unreliable was over a year ago now, it's a rare event. All of my multiplayer games are lag-free for the most part (and I'm on a 1 Mbit connection) and the community for big name games is more than adequate, LBP, Rock Band, KZ2, MW2 and the like won't go quiet for years yet, or until their respective sequels are released. There are a bunch of free themes and avatars unlike another service I could mention, the UK gets BBC iPlayer, everyone gets Facebook integration, there's also Vidzone and HD movie downloads... where's the garbage? Not to say there aren't flaws... it still needs cross-game chat (reportedly in the works) and not every PSN game has a trial unlike XBLA. I paid for gold membership on my 360 for three years before realizing it was unnecessary... MS will have to do something drastic to get me back now. Oh, and you get to pay for your downloads with real money rather than magical MS fantasy points.
Well microsoft ask you to pay online but in return you get quality online that is worth it. for instance when MW2 came out PS3 couldnt handle the large numbers online while xbox held it fine.
It was only friend invites, matchmaking was fine, I was playing it. Besides, when MW1 came out Live was down for almost 2 weeks, gamers were so annoyed MS had to pay them off with a free XBLA game, so no one's perfect.
Guys xbox 360 is not better than the ps3 anymore. it was when the ps3's game selection sucked and it's online was terrible. But both of those problems are fixed now and I must say it is better than the xbox 360. I dont even own a ps3, I have an xbox 360btw.
