I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen and am wondering a few things. The first is if the $10 is worth it just to upgrade to 3.0. My second question is if I upgrade 1 of my iPod Touch's would I be able to upgrade the other ones my family has or would I have to pay $10 an iPod. If I can just buy it once and redistribute it to the other iPod's in my family I might just get it. Thanks in advance.
Why don't you just find the 3.0 download link from the Apple website (search google) and shift+restore it that way. You don't have to buy anything, and it's silly that Apple is trying to charge people.
Why not? $10 for the following? Copy&Paste Push notification Spotlight (search everywhere) Safari upgrade Shake to shuffle music (must have for ipod) Landscape keyboard 3.0 feature apps
ohh I want to know how to get it free so I know you have to restore but 1.what does restoring do? 2. how do I do it? 3. it it illegal or do I need to know something before I do it?
Whether or not you think $10 is worth it is up to you, I'd like to please ask everyone to stop posting instructions to pirate the 3.0 firmware. Last warning before I start handing out infractions.
I personally don't think it's worth it. But I suppose it has to be done to be compatible with the latest apps. Me? I waited a few days, and bought an iPhone 3GS instead. My work colleague bought the update for his touch because he thought it was worth it to have the landscape keyboard in Mail with his thick fingers (although this should have been in in the first place). There's really not a lot there for touch owners to get excited about imo.
