Thanks for the compliment! Send me a PM and I'll get you started in the beta. (To the others who have PM'd me, I'll be in touch shortly. I had to get a few things done last night and today but I'll be back around 5pm CST)
I *think* I got everyone at least set up with the web version. If I haven't contacted you back via PM, let me know. The TestFlight builds will come a little later Be sure to let me and the others know what you think! Already got a good bit of feedback already!
D'oh! Just PM'd you the info. If everyone who is playing wants to start listing their name so others can find them, please do so. That will also let me know how many people would be down for a tournament!
Don't know why it took me so long to check this thread out, but I'm glad I eventually did! I really like Risk and WWF is pretty cool, so I'm thinking that I'm really going to enjoy this game! The only thing I want to see that wasn't mentioned is GC achievements. For me No GC = only play with the free version unless I'm putting a significant amount of time into the game, but GC achievements = definite buy!
Username Kallemacd @Toysoldier I love Everything about the game so far but if I may suggest anything this game needs to be able to be played in portrait mode and it needs and indicator for who's turn it is
I'd like to beta test this game if you have any spots left open. I love word games and I'd love to give you feedback for it!
Thanks for checking the game out! Hope you do like it! We don't have GC achievements planned but there are achievements in the game. How possible it would be to add that to GC, I'll have to ask the programmers since I'm not sure how that would reconcile with the game being cross platform. @ANIMALCHOPPINGS - In the TestFlight build, there is a notification that tells what player is up
Okay...that's cool! Like I said, if the game is addicting or becomes my go to word game then I'll make the purchase anyway. I really do like the concept a lot, so... I'm definitely still looking forward to it!
Ok, on Monday I'll gather all the TestFlight emails and send those out. Right now, if you sent me a PM for beta testing, you should have access to the web version. Also, holy crap you all are awesome at word game! I'm struggling here to keep up. Looks like my win/loss ratio is going to tank
Just remember that no matter how you login, that same login will work on any device that supports HTML5 and you'll have access to all your in-progress games. Twitter integration is something coming, but I don't have an exact time when it will be implemented yet. Also, one thing to note. We don't have a limit as to how many games you can play at any one time.
Alright cool! I just have a natural disdain towards Facebook. My friends created me one my sophomore year in high school and I won the password my junior year, but I never use it. I created a second one for iOS purposes, but I still don't use it unless I need to. That's why I'm looking forward to twitter integration...no rush though. So far I'm liking everything! I can't wait to try out the iOS version!
Look for something tomorrow in terms of a "formal" tournament thing. I also saw Alec Baldwin is back on Twitter after getting thrown off an airline playing WWF. I can only hope he'll play Word Off! when it releases as he is saving an orphanage
Hey everyone, Evan here from Toy Studio! I have been putting a lot of hard work into the development and creation of WordOff and wanted to take a quick break to drop in and join the Touch Arcade conversation. Ryan mentioned earlier that we initially started out play testing the game with 4 players. I figure I can add a bit more insight into why we decided to not jump in with four player online matches... Game Length was really our main concern here. Nothing is more frustrating in these persistent turn based games than playing a tortoise. A lot of times you end up waiting a few days for an opponent to take their turn. Now imagine playing a game against three such people... Yikes! With that being said, we do plan to launch with a 3 and 4 player option for pass and play mode (local game not played over the internet). We intend to reexamine the 4 player online mode further down the road so please let us know your thoughts on the matter! GoofyJmaster, as Ryan said, we do plan to launch an achievements system shortly after release. This will tie into a global and friend based WordOff leaderboard that will provide you all the bragging opportunities anyone could desire. Our only issue with the iOS GC, as Ryan mentioned, is that WordOff is going to be one of few truly cross platform games that will run anywhere HTML5 can walk. Again, with that being said, we will certainly still look into ways of integrating our own internal systems with that of the devices we deploy to in hopes of making your experience that much better! For anyone testing, be sure to try out the boosts! In beta the coins are completely free so get as many as you like! I will be checking in from time to time to help answer any questions and read any and all feedback so please let the questions and comments fly! Lastly, I want to throw out my WordOff user name so anyone Beta testing can challenge me to a few games: 'Evangilbert'. Prepare to go down in a fiery pile of killer words!
Can you not have GC leaderboards/achievements that just operate in the background, completely independently of the stuff that actually makes the game run? I'm not a developer, but for me I feel like getting things like GC into your app day one is going to make a huge difference to how successful it is over those first few days, and getting word of mouth those first few days is important. The kind of people you're relying on to try the app blind are the kind of people that care about GC and the presence (or not) of it could really affect early downloads. You'll find tons of posts about new games coming out on this very forum, and "does it have Game Center?" and "I'd buy it if it had Game Center" are comments that appear again and again. It really doesn't have to add much to the game or you don't have to rely on it for matchmaking even. Just an achievement now and then for winning 10/20/100 games or a basic leaderboard. It just has to be there.
