The photo with the maximum number of “Likes” and “Retweets” will get an iPad 2! this will inevitably lead to failure of contest
well... it often ends with controversies... for instance like contest by Ivanovic for Time Geeks ended up the iPad won by a cheater (Initially the cheaters used facebook bot to increase their likes overnight and after we found out and report to the organiser, the contest's rules were changed. However the cheaters are still included in the lucky draw participants list and at the end 1 of the cheater won.) and example above is just tip of an iceberg. There are many contests that failed because of likes and retweets and you will realise that if you visit here long enough on contest threads and besides this, retweets and likes do not reflect the quality of the participants end product but they can win by their superior social networking and popularity among friends. to avoid issues like this, why don't organise a contest that is internally judge?
Yeah, I tend to avoid contests where it's all popularity. It's impossible to win without bothering everyone you know :/
yes u can ...just have to find a bot that creates new acc and help u like ur photos with help of few frens..I myself witnessed over 1k likes over 1 night and basically topped the leading likes within matter of hours
I agree with most of your points. Some participants also end up submitting photos from free sources claiming it to be there own. But we have a few mechanisms in place to verify all those things. And for this contest we are going to pick the best looking entry out of the all to be put up for voting, so you can be assured of one thing that we are going to pick up the BEST entry and nothing less. We have been here for quite long so also know about those who often use different methods to gain promo codes and other gifts. We are tracking everything so be assured that only the best 10 would be picked! And thanks for your feedback, good to know that you would prefer a jury method of selection, would keep that in mind for future contests
okay! By the way, will there be different selection based on iPhone model? what I mean is selecting the best among their own model (as in 3GS against 3GS). This is because different generation will produce photos of different qualities. p/s: apart from that, the issue I'm worried about still will be inevitable even in the best 10 voting process. Finalists can still ask their friends to help create bots and start voting their pictures and it will take a very long time to filter and track. Hope it doesn't become a mess at the end.
awww! Don't worry, give it a shot. If your entry is really good it will surely make it to the final voting and you never know you could also win
apart from my comment on previous page, I've got a suggestion. Submission of photos according to theme may be a good idea. You may have different themes available for others to choose and let them pick and do their best. If not it's kind of hard of comparing different pictures with no exact theme.
