I'd rather just play FPS on my PC with the far superior Keyboard and Mouse than play with the shitty touch screen controls. I don't know how anyone does it, especially with two thumbs taking up most the room on the screen. I was hoping the Gyro would make things better but it's turned out to make things worse.

Rather play games that are suited to it like Angry Birds or Cut the Rope.

World of Goo is crap too because it's hard to see where you're placing them with your finger dragging and covering the goo.

Does anyone know another FPS or TPS that involves upgrading weapons or character skills besides Dead Space? Loved that aspect on the iDevice version. NOVA2 and most of Gameloft's FPS were great but way too linear and has no upgrading elements.
And no I'm not interested in Mission Europa.

controls really aren't shitty at all. Get a gameloft FPS and put a couple hrs into it. you'll be fine as long as you don't... suck (but you should be able to use the controls). I never played FPS before around 2 years ago (I know, I know, just never had a decent PC, and xbox, or playstation). I picked up on touch controls soooo much faster than PC. You're just really used to PC.

I know what you mean about BF2. I bought it, played 10 minutes and quickly deleted it. 2 days later I downloaded it again and it's been with me ever since :D

Right. Let's see you drag your 20 pound computer around and play it on the bus. Oh wait...

Lol yeah like the other guy said, it's an acquired taste. Right now I don't know whether I want to call the game crap or amazing. Maybe I'll say it's amazing crap, or crappy amazing.

Not to get too off topic... But...

I don't have any FPS on my iPhone. I love FPS on the PC. Mostly for the multiplayer aspect. I really enjoy Team Fortress 2. I also enjoy single player campaigns but usually spend all my time on multiplayer.

If I am just adapting to the controls of iPhone FPS's is MC2 a good one to start with (today) ? I am worried I am too late into the release to enjoy it (too many pros at high ranks owning my sorry newbie butt ;-)

Any thoughts on which one I should grab ?

MC2 is definitely a solid FPS. Buy MC2, but make sure u do single player- I'd say at least 1/2 of the campaign- first. U'll be used to the controls by then and then get online but don't expect many kills until you are rank... 20 or so if ur pretty good. I made the mistake of diving right into multiplayer, and my KD ratio (a measly 1.33 or so) is what suffered. The only reason I actually leveled up was because I got a couple of assists. I would be like jumping for joy my first ten ranks if I got a single kill the entire game.

know what I dont think there are any good FPS games on iOS...the controsl for all the games are imprecise and hard to use. I think you will always face the problem that there are three keys thing you need to do:

    1. Move and orientate your sights
    2. Strafe left and right
    3. Shoot.

The only way to make it work is to remove one of these...but when games do that it feels like some of the skill is missing tbh. from Doom to battlefield I find them all incredibly hard to play...and the on rails doom resurection really feels like a lot of the choice has been removed.

Actually this is something I game some consideration to....as to how to make it work.

    1. firstly there should NOT be fixed d-pads. The pad systems I find work best are those that are based on when you put your fingers down. e.g. first finger down = move and orientate. once its down and held any movements I make change the orientation. Second finger down = strafe OR shoot if its a double tap. This way left and right handed people can play anyway they want, it works on ipad where I can put my fingers anywhere AND I only have 2 fingers controlling all movements....might work.....maybe though I dont think it will recapture the feeling of a pad or mouse and keyboard..

I really enjoyed MC2. Controls were fine with me, and the graphics were amazing.

Yeah, because your life was incomplete before you had the ability to play FPS games on the bus. The thousands of "casual" games available on the App Store weren't enough to quench your thirst, and waiting until you got home to play a game just seemed like an ancient and somewhat pathetic prospect...

I agree with Scaramoosh. FPS games just aren't half as fun on iOS due to it's numerous limitations. I love iOS gaming for what it does right, but when you want FPS done right, the general idea is to look elsewhere. Let each platform concentrate on what it's best at. By all means open it up to less-suited genres as well, but don't insult my intelligence by pretending that the only real way to play an FPS is "on the bus".

Its not so much that for me, its just that the weapons are way outta whack in R6 I mean come on a shotgun takes someone out all the way across the map (that seems a tad unrealistic).

But anyway, favorite shooter is MC2 definitely. Although one of the fps that I don't think got the attention it should have, was The Infinity Project, it was awesome played through it twice.
