It's so good, also I love the precedent this sets in that Aspyr is going to continue porting these awesome Bioware games (and not just ones like KOTOR with massive brand recognition) while improving their ports with each iteration. If you're into classic RPG's, this is an incredibly great sign. But, as I mentioned earlier, people getting mad was inevitable so next time I should probably just not say anything.

Any clue on the pricing? Assuming $5-$10 going from KOTOR.

Dunno, we got promo codes, but I'd guess $5-10 too.

Awesome, I loved KOTOR (the iOS version too) so I'll snag this. Looks fun, plus getting a martial art western RPG is rare, I'll take it.

    Mass Effect next....PLEASE

I loved the news! Love some old Bioware games and haven't played it yet.

It's a shame that Bioware is dead now. One of my fav devs.

"It sets the precedent that games will continue to be ported just like they were before!"

    Lol, nice save.

I'm not even mad, Jade Empire is a cool game.

Eh they've still got a lot of great games in their cache for Aspyr to hopefully port, and people to get super cranky about, some day. :)

Uh, Aspyr is notorious for incredibly jank ports so them improving them beyond just farting out more garbage is massive. Why has this upset you so much, out of curiosity?

I'm not upset at all, just pointing out that this doesn't establish a new precedent in any way, shape or form. Also, KOTOR's port is already super polished, so not sure what's new here.

I concede this battle of pedantry. Please accept my sincere apologies for getting excited for a video game.

We honestly can't win. If we post about a free to play game we're loving, people like you jump on us for enjoying some trash mobile game loaded with IAP that is destroying the App Store and mobile gaming. If we post about ports we're excited for, the same pedant goon squad jumps in to make sure we know it's actually Not A Big Deal at all and we're idiots for getting stoked for an objectively awesome game. It makes me wonder what a Heringer-approved mobile game would be to get excited for, since this one apparently isn't worth any level of fanfare?

Don't let it bug ya, everyone else in this thread is genuinely excited. Since you had a promo, think you guys will get a review up fairly quickly (for the port)?

Shaun has his review done, and Aspyr just emailed saying the game won't be released tonight... lol. So, I'm not sure what that means when it comes to when it'll be published but I hopefully will find out soon.

Jeez, people are so ####ing SALTY nowadays. I remember when video games were fun. I'm sorry if you read too much into it, but I still believe this release does set a precedent because Jade Empire is relatively unknown and hasn't been ported to every platform in existence. For anyone to bother porting it is a pretty big deal. KOTOR is different because it has STAR WARS in the title and would basically print money regardless of how good the port was.

The precedent here, I think, is that Jade Empire is the first Bioware title to be ported that is the sole property of EA. Lucasarts was the publisher (and owns the associated rights to) KotOR, while I believe Wizards owns the rights to the Forgotten Realms games.

Jade Empire being cleared by EA means that other EA-owned properties could conceivably be on the table in the future, something that, at least to me, didn't seem possible outside of EA doing them themselves prior to this news.
