My favourites: Pizza Boy - retro pixel art, very good controls, gets challenging, particularly if you go for all the bonus letters. Hard to fault, but it is quite short. Terava - new game, action platformer with unique control method that works very well and RPG-lite weapon & armour upgrades. Universal. Highly recommended. Miner Disturbance - Involves digging a bit more than pure platform action, but this is one of those hidden gems that you really need to play. Babylonian Twins - remake of an Amiga game. Control 2 characters, but only one at a time. They have different abilities, need to work together to solve the levels, etc. Looks great, plays really well.
I second Quak. It's a rare case in which bad controls - or at least difficult controls - actually adds to the experience. it's hard to control, it's hard to see what's what. the gameplay is really chaotic. you have to adopt a new mindset when you're playing it. normally i like to try to complete levels - get everything, etc. in this game, I'm just grabbing a few things and getting out of there. it's fun because you have to play in that chaotic way. really fun. I also like Pix'n Love Rush. A lot of platformers forget what device they're on. I feel that way about Frogatto. The controls are not that good, and it becomes frustrating.
frogatto is awesome i found the controls where great seriously great game recommend it. i think there was an update to improve controls so that might be why its better
I love iphone platformers. And I've played most of them. By far, I think the best ones are Bounce On 1 and Soosiz. They are long complicated platformers. Bounce On 2 and the Rolando series deserve a mention too and so does Chop Chop Ninja. There were some here tonight I had not heard so I bought them. Thought Hooga was pretty interesting. Enjoy!
I only own Hoggy and Soosiz, but I thought both were pretty good. Maybe I'll check out some of the other suggestions in this thread, though.
I'm surprised no one said Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery. It's the perfect blend of platforming with action, adventure with a decent story-line
