Well, they are not try to do extinction here, and they can't, coz' they are not innovation enough. Try to walk away from the crowd or popular game, do something new & innovated, you can stand out from other, and you do win. the best examples from recent release are: 1) Spider: The Secret Of Bryce Manor 2) Samurai Way of the Warrior
I agree that they are far from creative, but they have kicked off some of the top games at the moment. And as far as I'm concerned, the are the best for now. Good job gameloft.
But wait, theres more! Gameloft just comfirmed another game, "Skate Nation." Too..many....games...too..little...time!!!
Apparently today is Gameloft day. And yeah, with this recent spate of good games, other guys are starting to be left behind. EA and Chillingo are trying though. Freeverse needs to pick up. NgMoco has Rolando 2 and... One thing about Gameloft though, I've always had the feeling that they've been testing the waters as far as bringing truly awesome games to the device (hence the recycled game engine, having sales every other week, etc). I think next year you're gonna see some seriously good looking full fledged games from them. Only thing is that you might have to pay $10-$12 to get them.
I agree. They consistently bring out good games like ubisoft and it would be nice if their games were polished like NGMOCO. But they are getting much better with games like Modern combat! As for them monopolizing the market with 99cent games I guess that's a win/win for the consumer, sorry! I'm much more comfortable buying games from high profile companies anyways heh. I hate buying great games from smaller devs only to see them not support the game months later because it's hard to keep up with the competition. This means the game probably won't work on future OS's and apple could potentially drop the game if the developer doesn't renew the dev contract each year
Just sayin. It's awfully hard for indie devs to keep up with that. Do I think they are guilty of the practice of "dumping" in order to drive out other developers? Probably not intentionally. But that's the effect that it's having... which is why devs have a love/hate relationship with them. They make great games... but they set everyone's expectations for a $0.99 game through the roof. Again, just my opinion.
Agreed. I think this applies to the younger crowd though. Most people know it's impossible for a dev to make a "Hero of Sparta" game production wise for 99 cents (even though it was a price drop after a while). But that's why the app store is so appealing to shop at. It's quick, fast and you get great games that are under priced. I remember renting games for a week on my Helio Ocean for 3 bucks and owning them would be for 7-10 dollars. The app store totally destroys the cell phone game market because it's powerful, easier to develop for and so many people own ipod touches and iphones.
HELL YEA!, ftwwww ah..I've spent so much money on gameloft games...and there's 3 more that are already announced that I know i'll be getting . Hahah, tough lovee
pretty soon, the whole app store will be flooded with gameloft games we must stop the poison before it spreads!!!!!
I agree gameloft FTW!!! though it is true that the games are not innovative right now, but clones of great games = great games! but you guys are over looking the fact that thay are very innovative when it comes to game controls. sandstorm has done what many (including myself) thought was impossible and thats making FPS controls on the idevice that work! and work great!! I expect after they crank out some "safe" clone type games that go over well they will likely venture out more with more innovative titles
They are cloning different games becouse they're big hits and yet not in the iPhone. What Gameloft is doing is giving App Store life.
Yes, Gameloft rocks! They started with the 99 cents war that force the others to follow and keep them coming since then. The latest entry Lost of Empire is another worthy 99 cent purchase.
...and yet I only own one of their games and don't like it much They're obviously successful, but from my point of view all they're doing is making inferior versions of games I already own. When I browse the App Store I look for new ideas and stuff that can't be done easily on other platforms... anything that gives the iPhone that little bit of exclusivity to push it further from the typical standards of gaming I'm already familiar with.
gameloft may be the fastest dev or publisher or whatev, but they're not the best. firemint has QUALITY game, chillingo has some, ngmoco with a few. You cant say that Gameloft is the best because they make there games faster.
i like gameloft games, keep up the good work but... the problem is no updates for their games i really like gangster but i don't think it has risen higher is because of the little touches that make gta games great. once you complete the missions there isn't enough to keep me interested. *IF* they would publish a few updates to their games they could really start putting some distance on some of the competition. they're games are good but not great. a few updates on some of their games would go a long way. if they don't they leave the door open imo for another developer to come in and make a superior game //we need updates on games
