it makes the computer 15 times faster than with a regular germanium chip...im not sure maybe only scientists can get them...there is so little silicon that they go for well over 1 million dollers.

Maybe I'm confused, but isn't silicon what most computer chips are made of?

silicon is probably worth 3 cents since oxygen is free

If you want to seriously make your computer run faster, you can defrag, uninstall programs, and delete junk. There's no sure fire way to make your computer faster if it gets old.

Are you sure you don't have a virus? I'd run a scan to make sure. BTW, how old is your computer?

Before I forget, one way is to get a better graphics/video card.

Edit: Oh, and CCleaner won't really do anything major.

    HIT THE TURBO BUTTON!

but honestly what aaron said sounds good and if you really know what you're doing you could edit your directory to remove the information left from programs you've uninstalled. But that is ONLY if you know what you're doing

of course, this is assuming you're using a PC not mac

i actually didn't think of that, but yeah, only do it if you know exactly what you're doing.

I've heard that it also helps if you open it up and dust it. Assuming you have a tower. However, any computer will slow down and die just by age alone if you give it enough time. You could also try using one of those processor light Linux versions as well. :)

You might want to try Glary Utilities. You can clean up, scan and get rid of junk in your computer. I'm assuming you have a Windows. If so, try downloading that.

Note: I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your computer :p

Four years, same boat as me. Want a tip? Buy a new computer. If you get a new rig you'll get the advantages of faster RAM/HDDs/everything, multiple core processors and well basically everything is quite a lot better. I'd assume you would have missed the boat to PCIe, DRR2/3, decent GPUs and Cored processors making a simple update of components harder and more expensive. .
However buying an entire rig is not cheap either :p
Try what Aaron sugests, if you have less than 1GB RAM, download eBooster. Or get your mum to buy a laptop and use that :p worked for me.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree; your best bet would be to buy a new computer, or even a laptop.

Try building the PC yourself, as it sometimes tend to be cheaper, but usually works better also. Oh, and if you have any brains at all, find a way to get XP... I'm currently running Vista 64-bit, and there are so many problems it's not even funny. I'd go with at least 2GB of ram, and at least two processors. Go with a decent to high-end video card, I have a Nvidia GeForce 9500, and it's working pretty well.

Yep definitely. I'm going to go with 4GB RAM min, but I will be doing mild picture editing with CS4, plus I like it snappy. I'm with Aaron again with custom building, it's so much more affordable, the only thing is you loose warranty if you need some serious help -computers are fiddly things. I do have some connections and would consider myself knowlegable enough to choose the components, but if you do your homework it's seriously worth it comparing a grande rig with a simalarly priced tower from Dell.
