My Kodak Zi8 Pocket Camcorder was in my fleece pocket when I was cleaning the toilets as a chore. My jacket dipped into the water, and BAM, the camera would not turn on. It wasn't that wet, but the SD card was soaked and the battery was a little wet. So: 1. Is this covered under the camera's warranty? 2. What can I do to get the water out? 3. What are some fixes? Should I replace the battery? By the way, the Zi8 had a custom Kodak battery.
You're from Cincinnati too? Awesome. Anyway, your best bet would be to go to Kodak's website and look at the warranty, contact support, etc.
1) I doubt it. No electronic I've had so far is covered for accidental war damage. 2) Put it in a bag of rice. Leave it there for 2-3 days. 3) Unless the battery port has been affected by the water, nah. A battery's basically a tube with layers of metal and chemicals. Water will only affect the metal prongs in its exterior that allow the flow of electricity. You'll know if it doesn't work if that battery's malfunctioning.
Seems TA members are all being haunted by the ghost of a drowned man, we get a new case of waterlogged electronics about once every hour around here.
