Don't you just hate it when someone's opinion that doesn't match your own? Whenever that happens I like to yell about it to let everyone know my opinion is right and the other guy should think the same way I do.
The only reason I go back to TA is the forum community, not the articles and certainly not editors like Eli Hodapp. Man, that guy is hard on critics of TA's articles lately and it feels like they are trying to ram their so called 'opinion' down our throat. In my opinion the front page is turning out to be more like an advertisement section than a review section but then again that is just my opinion.
Lets end this debate right here Ok lets end this debate right here . The debate is whether Brad can be fair about reviewing games that have virtual buttons even though he doesnt perfer them. I say that Brad is fair so this is the solution. We have a game Project Raynium comming soon that uses virtual buttons. Right now the game is waiting for Apple"s ok , hopefully next week around tuesday it will be released. We would like Brad to be the one to write a review on our game. Yes We are taking a huge risk , but we feel Brad is honorable and will give us a fair review. Even though our Project Raynium uses virtual buttons , we know Brad will be fair. Its not about buttons , but about developers making the buttons responsive and enjoyable to use. Since we have made very responsive buttons and fun game,we have nothing to worry about.
That was way back when TA is still full of Ngmoco fanboys and minigore is the next pocketgod. Good times good times.
"Your opinion is wrong." "We teenagers who fixate on slick 3D graphics completely ignore the problems many virtual control system pose so you should completely ignore the controls too and focus only on the graphics" Some people, not naming names tsharpfilm, are taking this way too seriously. I mean come on, people complain about TA only being positive about games, but when they're negative, it's the end of the world.
props on this. I may not agree with virtual buttons, but I do believe Brad can give a fair review to any app, virtual controls or not. This is a step in the right direction for everyone involved.
This is really funny if you're joking but it's even funnier if you're being serious. This debate is so old, it was old far before this thread was ever started. If you only buy games based strictly on a TA review then that's your problem. There's a gazillion other review websites out there, and if you're so unsure about one of our reviews then go scope out some others and form your own opinion. All of the TA writers have different opinions and tastes, and not everybody will always agree with them. That is just the nature of subjectivity. I don't see what purpose arguing about it serves anybody except to make a bloated, boring thread.
So basically you admit you were forcing your opinions down their throats, because they were "fanboys".
Please lets end this!! Can someone contact Brad and tell him this solution. There is no reason to keep this fight going.
The only difference between your opinions on games and the TA writers' is that more people are reading theirs. People seem to believe that, when a reviewer has an opinion that doesn't match their own, the reviewer has poor taste and therefore their opinion is wrong. Nobody forces critics to read the reviews. I for one don't, but it isn't because I think the articles are poor. They just don't match my taste of games is all.
TA writer @Boarddumb: Is there anyway you can contact Brad. I read what Brad wrote and maybe it came out the wrong way. It might have sounded more harsh than it really is. I will give you an example of what I mean. When we released our 1st game , it was a casual game. We had asked Hodapp to give us a review. Hodapp straight up said he didnt feel our game was good enough for front page. Now if we reacted like you guys here , we would have flamed Hodapp and cried ,moaned Hodapp is evil. We reacted differently though and made a better , more fun ,more intense, more focused game. We stepped up our game and made a better product. We stepped our game up and didnt resort to whining.
That's fine, I'm just saying you don't need to bring up your new game multiple times in this thread that is about a different topic. Feel free to email [email protected] if you want him to check it out.
thanks alot : Thanks alot!!! I hope he considers it and proves to everyone he is fair. I already know him and all the writers are fair.
Virtual buttons are like using the iPhone to browse the Internet, a good substitute but not as good as the real thing. That being said it's the variety of games on the iPhone that makes it great, and that includes every virtual button game. Without them the iPhone would be considerable worse off, and my game library would be a lot less.
This is the strength of the iPhone's hardware. It's not the tilting or swipe gestures, it's the fact that it accommodates a wide variety of genres and gameplay types. The only thing holding it back is the 99 cent Appstore herd mentality. But this isn't a good example at all. You're comparing something that has been proven to work on the iPhone (so well that big companies can make money off of it) against (admittedly fair) speculation that line drawing games won't work on a console. So your argument crumbles as soon as anyone takes more than a glance at the reality of what gamers play and enjoy.
