I can't support a developer that's simply making money off others' ideas. There's a difference between "inspired by" and blatant plagiarism.
veggie samurai.. i prefer the multi slashing.. im waiting for zombie slasher.. where zombies will be tossed into the air and you have to slash off the arms and legs and head for points. heh chris.
I guess I'll say Fruit Ninja, but Veggie Samurai is still fresh so more stuff might be added to it. Anyways... Quantum Squid has been focusing on their "WoW-like RPG" a lot (at least I hope they are), so I believe they put out Veggie Samurai as an "attention grabber" to show that they are an upcoming dev. Although, it has done nothing but make a bad name for them... not the best strategy. Anyways, even though Veggie Samurai is a rip-off, it's still nice to see more games of type coming into the app-store. I mean, there's plenty of match 3 games, Tower Defense games, Zombie games, and so on. So consider Veggie Samurai as just another game in the "slicing flying objects" type games. Well, that's the way I see it...
Maybe Veggie Slicers? or something? But, Veggie Samurai does have a pretty good ring to it, but so does Fruit Ninja...
I know this is an older thread, but... I have Veggie Samurai HD on my iPad, and Fruit Ninja on my iPhone. Is it worth buying Fruit Ninja HD for $5? That just seems expensive! Also, does it ever go on sale? TIA for your advice/opinions!
Fruit Ninja's gameplay and design feels more refined and like more thought went into it, the speed and 'weight' of the fruits feels better, the slashing and scoring mechanics are better, the sound and splatter effects, the menu design and UI.. It al just looks and feels more polished. I bought Veggie Samurai with an open mind after the recent big update, but the new modes didn't have any spark, and the dicing feature felt more like a hinderance, and cumbersome to the core gameplay, than an enhancment. Don't care who came out with the idea first. Halfbrick obviously spent more time and energy, and put more thought into their game and it shows. So I like Fruit Ninja more, and I am more excited by their so far unnanounced new mode than any of the ones Veggie Samurai has, even though they are (finally) somewhat original and interesting in theory(especially the match 3 one), they weren't executed well at all.
fruit ninja is better definitely, the throw up of veggie is too slow and feel like you are in the moon. however, both are not as fun as paper ninja in my opinion.
VS for me cos it was free. never tried FN but seems pointless buying now i have a clone. fruit is generally cooler than vegetables tho, must admit.
Veggie samurai FTW I admit that it is just a Copy of FN but it the concept and ran with it by adding a load of stuff that fruit ninja doesn't have such as a load of game modes and multi-slicing. Sure FN has customisable blades and stuff but all that is purely cosmetic, Veggie Samurai exceeds where it really counts; Gameplay.
You know what would be epicly awesome... If halfbrick and quantum squid combined forces to release Veggie Ninja or Fruit Samurai
Fruit Ninja is better, and smarter. The gameplay is simple and to the point, and the graphics and concept are far more refined. I also like the fruit facts. Fruit Ninja is a labor of love. Veggie Samurai is a labor of cloning.
I tried out Veggie Samurai because it became free. It is now on my C grade section of apps while Fruit Ninja remains on my A list. Even though Veggie Samurai has multi-dice and more game modes, Fruit Ninja has the more addicting feel to it. The veggies are ridiculously slow (which I realize you need to have for multi-dice) and its splatter and reaction to the blade is not as good as Fruit Ninja's. The extra modes in VS are ok, but not the deal-breaker I thought it would be. I keep coming back to FN, but not VS for the simple reason FN is better-made. Plus, the unlockable blades and backgrounds is just the cherry on top. Fruit Ninja is triumphant.
I don't get it. Why is people still discussing about fruit and veggie when there is Paper Ninja which already takes slash game to another level?
I just got Vegie Samurai because it's free but I paid for Fruit Ninja. I think that pretty much says it all right there.
