We definitely designed Saturday Morning RPG in the vain of classic 16-bit JRPGs - please check it out if your looking for an enjoyable JRPG. Ayjona mentions disliking it, but I reckon they haven't tried it since the update. We've fixed the concerns most people had with it. The first part of the game is free, so you've got nothing to lose by trying it out.

You might wanna mention that Dungeon Raid is actually a match 3 puzzle title ;) A turn-based RPG it is still, but probably not the kind the original poster sought for.

(But if Dungeon Raid goes, I'd say go for Puzzle Quest 1 & 2 first. They are both thrice the RPG that Dungeon Raid is, with far more traditional RPG mechanics, an open world to explore, storylines, traditional character progression, and much more. Not necessarily better games than Dungeon Raid (which is one of my few puzzle favourites for iOS), but offers much more for an RPG fan.)

I have. The full version is on my Appshopper list, and I will give it another chance as soon as there is a sufficient price drop :)

Strangely enough, and this might sound contradictory, I don't actually think Saturday Morning RPG is a bad game, in any way, even though I did find it disappointing in most ways. It just really did not strike any kind of chord with me. I still believe it is a turn-based RPG that deserves attention, which is why I included it in my list above, even if hidden inside brackets ;)

    RPG Elements

It is amazing how RPG elements from leveling up, XP, to outright fantasy character battles are appearing in all genres of gameplay from Match 3 to tower defense games (Kingdom Rush now with Heroes).

Great list, will need to check out Dungeon Raid.

    Cheers,

    Glen (Zenfar)

Symphony of Eternity is really good, I got it because it went down from 8.99 to 0.99 (probably because the second is about to be released)

Reading this thread i remembered buying fantasy chronicle while it was on sale but never played it. Thought i'd redownload it but it seems to have vanished from the store. Anyone else noticed? Hope it comes back.

Hey, nice list. So are you the girl on the left or the right?(guess it doesn't really matter... Didnt realize any good looking girls were into RPGs etc..)

Anyways, uhh I guess you should now add FF:D to the list... Ash and Ash 2 are recommended. Don't forget about Alphadia, eve of genisis and grinsia from kemco. Also Chutlu saves the world is another good one. There's phantasy star and shining force form Sega(both good) Fall of Angels is another good one.

Osiris legends while not turn based(pretty sure) is worth a look.

And for some other less traditional jrpg type games - Squids/2, Idonia(don't see this listed anywhere, I kind of just accidentally found it but it's pretty cool)
Battleheart of course... Finger shot Rpg is another one of my faves. Also check out crimson steam pirates..

Adventure bar story is another good one...

Other recommendations - Vay, Yipe 5, Monster Rpg 2, and chrono trigger (if u haven't played it)

For strategy RPGs - battle for Wesnoth, tactical warrior, ravenmark, fft, woe, highborn.

    That should keep u busy..

What happened to Fantasy Chronicle? I got it on my ipod along the other Kemco titles but I wanted to put them all on the ipad to see how well they scale but couldnt find it even when I searched through my purchases.

Its a shame because for me its the best Kemco rpg of the bunch.

I purchased Fantasy Chronicle a while back, and, yeah... it's been pulled from the U.S. store, at least) for some reason.
