What do you mean? Touchgrind is just as open-world as this game...

By the way, I don't really like the way touchgrind was set out (birds eye view), that's why I didn't get that one. But this one, its gonna be perfect. :)
    Also, my 1000th post!

Are these forums quieter then they used to be? Or are there just so many more games now?

I remember the Jet Car Stunts forums went nuts in the run up to release, but I suppose that was a really unique game on the iPhone at that time, and exactly the type of game a lot of people wanted to so. Also, I suppose, the time between the announcement and release was a lot shorter.

Still, obviously a lot of people are super excited about True Skate. I hope you find it as fun as me when it is released on the 18th.

Anyway, I have got to try to get a better trailer for True Skate ready.

I think you are probably right about there being a lot more games now. That being said, I'd say there is quite a bit of hype around TrueSkate. It's one of the more popular threads in "Upcoming Games" (being bumped at least a few times a day).

I think you'll see a huge increase in interest next week before launch...

Yeah, its really encouraging to see how much some people really want this game as soon as they can get there hands on it. It's really the skateboarding game that I wanted to see on a touch screen, and I am starting to get some feed back that other skateboarding enthusiasts feel the same way. I'm not sure how board the appeal is though, but, its great to be able to make games that some people really care about.

This sir is why you guys are awesome. This really looks to satisfy my need for a true skateboard game on iOS after Touchgrind, and I suspect I'll waste tons of time playing is game :D. Btw is board customization a possibility for the future?

I hope we do board customization in the Future. It would suck if we didn't. However, it could be a little while before any major updates arrive because we don't want to delay JCS2 too much. There are so many ideas for True Skate updates though.

As I play True Skate more, I was just thinking about some further tweaks to the physics I would like to make, but how it is too late now. (I always want to make more tweaks, same in JCS1) But, I just had the realization that I could just add the new physics tweaks to a new skateboard, or some kind of skateboard customization.

Somebody already suggested the idea that it would be cool to be able to customize your skateboard graphic by using the iPhone's camera. That would be cool.

Anybody have any particular things they would love to be able to customize?

I know a little bit about skateboarding... You know how touchgrind had boards you unlocked that were better than others? I think it would be cool to be able to unlock:

Boards: Some boards have more pop and stuff. Maybe make some boards better at one thing than another board.

Wheels: Different wheels have a different feel. Some are more grippy, some are less grippy.

Trucks: Um... I don't know what better trucks do for skateboards... But I'm sure they do something.

Griptape: Just a fun thing to unlock. Different colors of griptape.

Longboards: Not really the best for tricks... But it would be fun to play around with. Just imagine grinding on a longboard...

Pebbles: Every skateboarder loves pebbles... Maybe not...

I guess most of those suggestions are pretty straight forward, but are couple are a bit more out there.

I had thought of a few other weird options for non skateboards roaming around the game, but I hadn't thought of a long board. I've seen people take a long board on vert ramps or street courses before, but, just like in imagine in the game, they don't do much. Still could be interested. That reminds me, I once saw somebody drop a vert ramp on a tiny yellow plastic skateboard that would bend in the middle if you didn't keep your feet exactly above the wheels.

haha, I should have added pebbles to the game, and made you have to swipe them out of the way with your fingers;) Or other anoying things like soft drink spilled everywhere that sticks to your wheels and slows you down until your wheels are covered in dust and you start sliding all over the place.

Obviously the best customization thing would be a park editor... : )

I love the idea of adding boards with tweaked physics though. Seems like that might kill two birds with one stone!

There have been surprisingly few requests for a level editor so far. I am sure once the game is released, there will be a lot more. I think we have to worry about completing JCS2 with its level editor before seriously thinking about the possibility of that for True Skate.

I thought about a park editor, but I thought that might be asking a bit much.

Very excited about this game. It will be an instant buy.

But on another note: Illusion Labs has just announced that they are currently working on Touchgrind 2

Well, Illusion Labs has tough competition now. If touchgrind 2 is the same view as the original, True skate has already won. I doubt they'll do that though. We'll see.
