Great art style. Nothing really new in the gameplay department, but a good time waster nonetheless. It feels pretty kingdom-rush-esque in some ways, e.g. upgrades, items and especially the difficulty. It took me a few tries get through level 3 and 4, but I eventually gave up on the fifth level. It feel a lot like you have to find the one and only correct build order to get through and I found that rather frustrating.
There are probably lots of people that like this kind of difficulty progression (see kingdom rush), but it's not my cup of tee anymore (I remember having a lot of fun with KR 1, but not with KRF)
Btw. I experienced 0 bugs on iPad air with latest iOS.

Anyways, good luck with the game.

I agree with someone's comparison to Kingdom Rush. It makes me think of Kingdom Rush plus Swords & Soldiers.

I came across a bug where a beaver stopped moving and just look left and right rapidly, kept swing his sword, and was ignored by my melee squirrels. It was attacked by archers though, and was eventually killed

All around fun game though! I like it

One major question: is there a time limit on the levels?? Because, um, i was just about to beat the third area when all of a sudden i got hit with meteor after meteor until all of my 30+ squirrels were dead, and not suprisingly, lost. If there is a time limit, it would be nice if that was a little more clear, if there isn't then i guess i found a major bug ha.

Other than that ocurrence though here's my input:
Awesome art style! I really like the look of everything. The game runs smoothly though the difficulty might need tweaking (special levels seem very, very hard for instance, im not sure if they are possible without coming back to them later). Overall im enjoying it!

Edit: did come across another bug. Playing on iphone 5, ios 7.04. I beat area 4, but it did not show it as completed in my menu. I closed out of the app and reopened, and now it is still showing area 4 as unbeaten but i kept the acorn i unlocked from it

In normal difficulty, there is definetly multiple ways to win, but on hard and special, it will require some experimenting to find out what works. That is the challenge in making this game. There is no multiplayer, so the campaign has to be pretty difficult to make sure you don't beat it in an hour :)

I have had this happen before too. Do you remember what level it was in?

No time limit, but I think you have struck a rare bug! I've had the AI-spams-fireball bug happen once too and it's not intentional. Working on getting that fixed.

Special is the hardest difficulty, and we definetly recommend completing the game on normal and hard before trying them. By that time, you will have unlocked better troops and actually have a fighting chance :)

Oh oh. So you kept the acorn, but can you select level 4 on hard mode or can you only replay it on normal?

Thanks a lot for all the feedback guys. It really is invaluable! We're very interested in hearing from people who have reached level 8-10 on Normal. For the record, we've beat all the levels on all difficulties and challenge anyone to do the same! :D

The game looks and sounds interesting to me definitely interested in trying and giving feedback if you get any more codes.

Besides I'm at the inlaws all week with nothing better to do but play on my iPhone!

Only up to level 3 at the minute I like the art style but would maybe like to see little changes to units as they are upgraded if possible. So far I've completed 1 for 3 acorns and 2 for 2 but 3 still seems difficult. Definitely seems to get harder fast.

Just a bug on level 3 also I wanted to try again and try a different tactic and clicked retry and my flying units and their flying units all stayed in the game. So it started fresh but they were all still there and did their attacks.

I definetly recommend going through normal difficulty first! If you are stuck in a level, try unlocking footmen and archers asap.

Now THAT's a bug I haven't seen before! We'll be sure to fix that. In the mean time, closing and opening the game should reset.

Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming :)

I'm on an iPhone 4S with up to date iOS if that helps for the bug.

I am playing the normal difficulty first but was still struggling with level 3 so went back to do the first two on harder difficulties to get more upgrades.

I was cracking level 3 on my last attempt and winning but then the enemy kept pumping out troops from their base and seemed to use near endless meteors on me, they just kept using one after another until I lost.

The meteor-spam is definetly a bug. Jrec15 mentioned the same thing previously. I thought the bug was rarer than it appears to be. Try the level again, and if you encounter the bug again, type down the level, difficulty, situation, and what rank your own fireball is. Hope you can get past level 3 - there are still a lot of spells and enemies you haven't seen :)

Ok so I've just passed level 3 I didn't get the constant spam of meteors this time but did get a few times where the enemy did 2/3 of them one after the other.

Also on level 4 which I passed first try this time when I destroyed the base on the bottom of the screen one of my flying units got trapped there and just kept circling instead of going to the second base.

Good, good. The units are meant to disappear if they are sent down an empty path. If a flying squirrel kept circling, it is probably a bug.

I just completed level 5 in two tries with 4 global upgrades (base, base, archers, archers). Looking forward to hear about your tries :)

So far I'm failing miserably at level 5 it's pretty tough with 3 bases and those giant beavers with the logs.

One thing I would like on this game is a bestiary, be nice to see the info for my units and enemy units. Just some writing and info on their stats.

I know I'm only on level 5 so far so I can't say much but more unit choice for my team would be nice too, seems unfair they get more : ( plus I like a choice in strategy.

Basically, it was as if the level wasn't completed at all, so i could only play on normal. I was able to beat level 4 again (this time no glitch happened) and i received another acorn, and was then able to play on hard. I did however permanently receive that extra acorn (the map says i have 9, upgrades give me 10).
In regards to difficulty, i think part of the confusion is that in certain games (like kingdom rush) who have levels set up in this format, the best strategy is pretty much always beat all three difficulty's from one level and then move on to the next. This is different, which isn't bad, but level 3's hard mode may be more difficult than level 4, but less difficult than level 5 for instance. Meaning i get a sense i cant beat level 5 without having beaten a certain number of hards/specials before it. Also though, i did not notice that you could reset upgrades anytime you want. This helps alot in strategizing and i've found maxing the warrior squirrels for instance to be particularly helpful on some levels

Edit: also, in regards to level 5. Since you are the only one that seems able to get past it, i'd like to double check. Are the beavers suppose to have meteors and the enraged spell very soon (after taking down just 1-2 dams) as well as immediately starting off with the freeze spell, and are the giant beavers suppose to come after only about 10 acorns of time? Because im trying really hard... But not finding a way to beat it without using the 500 coin powerups

A bestiary would be cool! An idea for a future patch :)

The strategy in Tree Wars is intended to be which spells/units you choose to unlock first, and what spells/units you choose to rank up. The levels then become like puzzles, where you have to find a perfect answer to the enemy's attacks.

Thanks for the bug feedback Jrec! It helps a lot :)

I understand what you say about beating some hard mode low-levels before going to normal high-levels, and I think it's a good strategy if you're stuck.

Alright gentlemen, let's beat level 5! The beavers are supposed to have meteors/fireballs and the enrage and freeze and all that jazz. After a few runs of the level, you will notice that the big brute beavers spawn when your squirrels cross certain points (getting near a base for instance). My tactic for beating it went like this: Send squirrels ONLY to the upper base, unlock archers asap, unlock fury and use it on a group of archers (especially when they face big beaver). Rank up archers and footmen for faster spawn rate. Beat down the upper base so the beavers only spawn from two lower bases. The rest went pretty smooth. Just make sure to heal the squirrels that tank big beavers and use everything on cooldown.

I was having trouble trying your way went back to trying mine and beat level 5 now. No level 6 appeared though?

I think it hasn't worked as I was given my acorn and spent it on an upgrade but the level still shows as greyed out on normal.
