Yeah I saw videos for it. Reminded me of Fight Night. Unless it was in this thread I just couldn't recall anyone here talking about the game and how it plays.
i dont think they were allowed to talk about anything until the game was released. to me, it only looks like fight night because of how the camera angle is.
That's surprising. The minigore thread turned into beta testers talking about the game. You'd think a game like Touch KO Chillingo would want to see what people say and start off big and instead of a take a chance with hype.
VeganTnT said: June 22, 2009 at 10:53 am I was one of the beta testers so I can answer this. A thumb tap is a jab on the appropriate side (right= right arm, left = left arm) A tap and hold raises that arm to block A tap and a swipe up is an uppercut A tap and a swipe in towards the center is a hook. you also quickly move your device to the left and right to make your pugilist dodge I'll remind everyone that this is based on a beta build and could change at anytime. BUT this control scheme was highly intuitive and easy to master so I would be surprised if they changed it [hqyoutube]Ut2eNI0e2XA[/hqyoutube] For Comparison: [hqyoutube]BJY4iZTQtxM[/hqyoutube]
Ahhh! thanks man! Hmmm i'm very interested in getting this now. I'll probably get it whenever it comes out
Ya that vegan dude got to beta test this(along with every other app in existence) and he explained the way it worked on like page 7 or something. The control scheme sounds like it can make some pretty tactical fights EDIT: I only read pg 12 I didn't realize people beat me to it
After watching a gameplay video of someone playing the game. I dont like how you have to touch the screen a few times just to throw a punch. is it because of the game reacting to it or is it because you cant do fast jabs?
If its anything similar to Fight Night (looks close) then your initial character in career mode will start out slow. As you progress through different fights, Title bouts, training, moving up in rank, etc. your character should become very fast over time contingent to how you distribute your skill points . I do hope thats the case because touch response will make or break it and i have high hopes.
yes that's another thing one of the testers said on a previous page. They said that the punches start slow and don't look very strong but as the game progresses fighting becomes very fast-paced and punches give the appearance of a lot of strength
Suddenly realised that's my main wish for this game: good, no great touch controls combining swipe and touch, and tilt. Visually the Touch KO video looks impressive, but that psp boxing game just puts me off because it looks like mechanical moves resulting from dpad/button combinations. Not sure if I'm expecting too much...
im happy with how the game looks good. not too happy about how they fall to the ground. but this is a buy for me. Wonder is they ever going to add soem type of multiplayer into this? online would be really good.
Temper your expectations Guys, I would like to hear from more of the beta-testers and here is why: I have been really looking forward to this game just like all of you HOWEVER, I have seen quite a few gameplay videos as well as read a handful of hands-on previews from various people. Although they all admitted that it wasn't the final build, a few of the previews are from the past week or so and here is the general consensus: This is NOT Fight Night! The game looks great, has a good leveling system and customization BUT it has very repetitive, non-challenging gameplay and somewhat frustrating controls. First of all, you CANNOT move your fighter...the fighters engage in an "automatic two-step" when both guys block at the same time (lame!) There really isn't any strategy involved as you just pretty much hammer away on your opponent and can pretty much win every match by TKO. The akward camera angle with the controls make it frustrating to execute what you are trying to do. In fact here is a good quote from appadvice.com: "will entertain you and frustrate you all at the same time" A few good, objective previews: http://www.iphonegamenetwork.com/touch-ko-hands-on http://www.mobilegamefaqs.com/newsstory.php?id=2316 Anyway, I'm not trying to be pessimistic but I think that many of us (including myself) should temper expectations a bit, that's all. I do hope this game kicks ass!
If you ask nicely, veganTnT might tell you if early build symptoms have tainted reviews. But I doubt he'd be in a position to say more under NDA.
if it was a preview build then im sure they must have changed a few things. the game looks good. and i admit the game looks too easy. Maybe there will be a difficulty setting? The game is not fight round. we all know that. And is really does suck how you cant move your player. and theres blocking so both players wont be blocking unless you decide to block. Overall i think this game would be worth a few bucks.
Hi guys, I think this wasn't totally clear for beta testers. Now that the game has been submitted they are free to share their impressions. Any beta testers that post here are welcome to speak freely!
I really hope you have the freedom of movement in the final build. A boxer than isn't light on his/her feet???? Doesn't even sound right...
Yes but I have watched 4 or 5 videos of people actually playing the game and never saw it used. In fact, one of the articles I linked in above post, the guy said that it was very slow to respond on his 3G, but I'm sure that those things have been "ironed out". Either way, I will be getting this game and we can all decide for ourselves by this weekend...hopefully.
