I am thinking of making a major iphone website somewhat like gamespot. A website with reviews, forums, videos, walkthroughs, hints, unlockables lists, easter eggs lists, game news, etc. Does anyone know of a good free website builder that would be best suited for this type of site? I would also be looking for people to be admins and moderators. We could run adds and eventually use a better site host. Someone could collect the money, (I am too young) Anyone know a good free site host?
Well it's not going to be anything like Gamespot or IGN if you don't have the $$$. 'Webs' is a good simple, free website creator. http://www.webs.com/
You want to set up a "major" web site, but you're looking for a free host. 1) Can you compete with TA? I think not. At least not for a long while. 2) Gamespot covers games across tons of consoles. That's why they're so big. 3) Without a domain (as in www.[insertnamehere].com), and a lot of cash, you're web site will be invisible. And you're kinda young to dedicate yourself to something this big. It's not gonna work out unless you have experienced people helping you.
I know I am a little young. I wasnt planning on being a big part. I was planning on finding some people who would be interesting on being the admins . I was just going to work with some very small parts of the site (posting reviews, making unockables lists, maybe even a guide or two). I was tossing an idea out there and seeing if anyone wants to hop on. I also dont plan on getting the money. I would leave that up to the admins. As I said before, I'm just making up some ideas. If you would like to help please leave a comment here.
Start off small, with what you can do. A well updated blog works, and you got all the tools to make things look decent and respectable. Do it properly and then grow from there. If you can't even manage a blog and update it often forget about about a website. Once you get a good following, then you start thinking about getting admins and moderators. Great sites don't appear in an instant. Sounds to me more like you want to be part of a major review site, rather than making and managing a site.
