FAIL. I freakin' know. Don't put words in my mouth. You're really on my back today... why did you return to the forums again? ...and I care, CoD is turning into a stale arcade-like shoot-em-up. MoH used to have some integrity with the way it leaned towards a slightly more slower-paced and realistic (yet still accessible) experience.
Well, there can be multiple versions of one thing... There isn't just one phone, not just one car, and there Isn't just one Modern War game.
The workers lied to me, then! That sucks. So, today, I ended up getting Dead Space, Resident Evil 5, & the BanjoKazooie:N&B/Viva PiƱata platinum hits combo. Ya, got them for 9 dollars per game.
Anyone picked up Deathspank yet? Played them demo and liked it, so decided to splash out for it. It's very good for an XBLA title, they definitely could have released this as a regular game easily. It's pretty much a hack and slash RPG, similar to Baulders Gate or Diablo, but with an great sense of humor and a cute little art style. Definitely worth checking out the demo at least, you get decent 30 minutes of play from it, although there's some other little restrictions in there too, none that impede your game though. edit: it's 1200 MP
I'm still baffled about the PC cancellation, to be honest. Looks pretty good though. Also, Baldur's Gate isn't a hack and slash RPG and completely different from Diablo. Sorry, it's one of my all-time favourites, so I feel I have to correct you on that .
Ah I only ever played Baulder's Gate 2, and only a little co-op with a friend, but it definitely seemed hack and slash-ish, cant comment on the rest of the series.
Well all of the Baldur's Gates were all story/character-focused, though I guess you could draw the conclusion of a hack and slash if you played it only briefly. The Icewind Dale series would be more suited to being called hack and slash, IMO. More on-topic: Deathspank looks more like Diablo, but a bit like Dungeon Siege 2, where it gave you dialogue options with other NPCs to give the illusion of actual role playing.
Oh I was only using hack and slash to refer to the style of gameplay, nothing more. Action RPG might have been a more fitting title, for Baulders at least. And yea, it annoys me how much RPG is thrown around to refer to the gameplay mechanic of leveling up etc, when a lot of so called RPGs have very little role playing in them. Back to the topic, the dialogue options are done well in Deathspank, you can choose to cut to the chase straight away or banter a little for some humorous exchanges.
Wait, are you talking about Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn (the more well known point and click classic) on the PC, or Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 (which WAS a hack and slash) on the PS2? On the RPG-or-not topic, personally I think the Diablo-type RPGs are suitable to being called RPGs, but they're completely different types of RPG to something like Baldur's Gate (the point and click one).
Dark Alliance on the PS2 I personally find things like Diablo to not be RPGs, as although you are technically playing a role in the game's world, you have no control over that role whatsoever. By that logic, Mario is just as much an RPG as Diablo. Games like Fable or Mass Effect would fall into my idea of a proper RPG.
I mean plug a regular old USB into the Xbox, if it shows up as a storage device, select it, and then 'format it for Xbox' The you can transfer all of your saves and such onto the hard drive.
Then I'm thinking of a completely different version to you . Whenever 'Baldur's Gate' comes up, I instantly think of the point and click PC series that I loved so much. Yeah, Dark Alliance is definitely a hack and slash. Well I think since Diablo, the definition of an RPG among the mainstream became a 'stat based and character progression' sort of thing. I'd still regard it as an RPG, but just different from your Fables or Mass Effects. Much like you have your 'horror survival shooters' and your 'Gears of War' style shooters, you can have your 'Diablo-esque RPGs' and your 'story focused' RPGs. I tend to go more for the story focused ones, personally.
