Well I don't know as its only ever been on sale once before and that was last Christmas from dec20-jan4,
Not sure how long it will last but if your interested grab it on sale as its well worth picking up. Provided you have the space and money.

I've spent a lot, but I don't spend with reckless abandon. I pay for quality (Battle Academy) and necessity (high-quality music apps are not cheap).

I RARELY buy 99 cent apps. I would rather spend more on games I will play than paymium/cheap entertainment. Though I did just pick up Pinwar. I've poured a lot of quarters into Zen Pinball.

I totally agree with paying for quality. And have been trying to cut back - hence this being on my wish list, not for a sale, but due to catching up on things since upgrading to a 4S ... and still spending on new releases.

That said, I can't deny that I also buy $.99 apps. There are a lot of amazing games out there that are totally underpriced due on the harsh market.

But games like this, Deus Ex, Xcom (admittedly also still on my wish list) and many others are well worth "premium" prices, which still aren't premium compared to console/handheld prices.

Still can't support crappy freemium models (which it makes me sad that eve SE had dipped into that scheme). Premium is still the way to go.

On topic, loving this game so far and surely wouldn't have been disappointed even at full price.

If your into this genre, its a great time to buy, soooooo much replay value, collecting various stuff and playing character moves (not sure how to say it all without spoilers lol). I paid full price, one of the very few games I laid this amount of cash for, yet have absolute no qualms about it. I feel I got that much of m y money's worth, where sometimes even 1$ games sometimes felt like I didn't get my money's worth. I enjoyed the game play, the soundtrack, and pacing. There were IAP but I never even paid heed to it, to the point I don't even know what they offer lol. Ad haruhi I thanks for the heads up on the remix, gonna look into it now.

LOL. No, unfortunate result of typing on a phone. Meant even SE (Square-Enix) had done some crappy IAP fests. Thankfully, not for their best games. Just things like whatever that Final Fantasy "tribute" was.

Oh, I know. I don't think they've taken the dirty route of adding (required, or in addition to neefing) iaps to games that didn't initially include them. Extra content maybe but that's different.

I have a family, 2 kids and money is certainly an object for me.

That said, I don't go around whining and moaning when a console game I want is expensive. I either buy it at launch or wait until it goes down in price a few months after it launches.

Now, the App Store contains many games that aren't worth their asking price even at free, I get that. But to make the kind of judgement like you've done here (and lord, in countless other games) is just beyond daft.

Beyond that, commenting on a game that was incredibly well received critically, even by those like me who generally aren't into most JRPGS, and saying it isn't worth even a dollar makes you seem sincerely, truly, honestly foolish. And cheap. Good things cost money. The development team on this game is gargantuan in comparison to even most of the top games on the platform.

The cheap attitude is one of the largest stumbling blocks in getting real games on this platform.

    QFT.

    Now, ON TOPIC:

I have been a bit hesitant with the game, as in what version to get. I am worried that I will have problems playing due to the screen size on the iPad, and that the iPhone version may be better. Having an iPhone 5, however, makes the non-optimized version less appealing.

Anyway, so what I'm asking is this:

Is the tapping on the screen intensive enough that playing on an iPad might cause someone who gets hand pain a fair bit of discomfort?

Also, for anyone who has purchased the iPhone version, how does it do in 2X mode on a retina iPad?

I'd rather not have to buy both, especially with no cloud syncing.

    Thoughts?

One of the only issues I have with this game is that you cannot play the iPhone version on a non JB iPad due to camera flash requirements.

This is not a fair move by the devs, especially given the iOS 7 feature of up-scaling iPhone games to look less fuzzy on iPad.

Here you have to pick your main game playing device.

Having played on my iPhone 4S I can say that it is perfectly playable on that device, but I have never used an iPhone 5 so cannot comment on the screen resolution issues.

I now have the iPad version as I hardly play games on my iPhone since I got the mini and I feel that this is the better version for me.

I would recommend the iPad version overall as it is certainly a better sized screen for the gameplay and the problems with iPhone 5 screen would probably inhibit your enjoyment, and SE doesn't seem to be interested in amending the screen resolution.

I stand to be corrected on the iPhone 5 screen but recommend that you buy at least one version in this sale :)

What is the gameplay like on the iPad? Are there lots of small hit boxes all over the screen? I played it for a few minutes years ago on my DS, but I didn't really give it much time, and due to the size I can't play the DS now.

I've played and finished the game on both platforms, it's almost a perfect port onto iOS and there are no real issues with touch detection or small hitboxes.

I'm on the fence because of optimization issue on iPhone 5.
But I think I won't be able to resist much longer!!

    I want a Vic 20 port!

I'd even take a port for my old Mac classic, or my Compaq portable computer

I played Quest for Glory on that POS!

Oh, on a random note: I owned both if these computers welllll beyond their best before date thanks to the joy of garage sales, including my Commodore 64 with a data cassette addon! Mmmm... Ancientness
