Sad, sad. There's nothing more to add to this thread. Not everything was a waste though since there seems to be a couple intelligent folk in this clusterf*** of stupidity. Don't get into arguments with others in "real life" brother. You are going to do an embarrassing job just like you did here.
look dude, just like music, people have different tastes in what they enjoy and you can't make somebody like something. some people are casual gamers and love the iPhone because the games are convenient and cheap! not everybody likes the 3DS or PSP and that's something you're going to have to deal with.
I've seen omega-f getting in the same argument for over a dozen times now. I dont exactly know what his problem is but apparently he cant just understand the simple fact that not everyone has the same opinion.
What I don't understand is: if someone is so tired of arguing with children, why do they still do it? Have you guys seen grown men arguing with small kindergarten children? Who do you think looks ridiculous in such a scene?
The iphone sux, psp and ds as well as the 3ds ftw! Take that now I'm one of the 'intelligent' folk in Omega's eyes, huraaaahhhh!
The only thing that can compete with iDevice is the upcoming PSP2 which is supposed to be as powerful as a PS3. The 3DS is marketing crap from Nintendo. 5 year old processor. It can't even compete with a 1st gen PSP.
All I need to say is this: http://www.macrumors.com/2011/01/14/...uture-devices/ In the iOS 4.3 Beta 1 software, a driver bundle for the PowerVR SGX 543 graphics chip was found...which clearly points to the next Apple SoC in 5th gen devices (A5 or whatever is called) using it. Alone (due to the technical limitations on the current SGX 535 GPU as well), you could pull off 3-4X the graphics performance compared to current iDevices, especially in games that use OpenGL ES 2.0, since it has 8 shader cores instead of just 2 like in 3rd/4th generation iDevices. This GPU is also available in multicore forms. IF Apple uses a dual core version, you could get roughly 8X the graphics performance. This second part of the dual core CPU has no hard evidence, http://www.macrumors.com/2011/01/14/...-a5-processor/ but if the rumor is true it will have two Cortex-A9 CPU cores. This is going to be the first worthwhile device upgrade since the 3GS assuming the CPU rumor is true. The Apple A5 is going to kick serious ass. The current GPU gave PS2 level power, and this will propel it into somewhere between an original XBOX and XBOX 360. Whoever was trolling about the 3DS can shut up now. Oh yay? I have a 3DS with a 4 year old ARM11 based 266 MHz CPU and 64MB of RAM and a 15 mil triangles/sec GPU? I am overjoyed. It's even better than my dual 333 MHz, 64MB RAM, and 30 mil triangles/sec PSP! I love Nintendo! They are geniuses. They can release 5 year old crap and still make 3 billion dollars of something that is equivalent to a pile of sh*t. While 5th gen iDevice owners and PSP2 owners can have fun with their new dual core 1GHz Cortex-A9 CPUS and multicore GPUs and 1GB RAM, you can enjoy watching pixelated tiny graphics on 5 year old hardware. The SGX 543 has 8 shader cores. The 3DS has TWO. What was that about better shader effects? Also having 10-20X the RAM with faster bus and clocks will help with anti-aliasing. In fact if your 3DS screenshots are so great on that junk hardware, that proves how capable iDevices and the PSP2 will be.
I'm pointing out a fact. the 3DS hardware is no where near as good as an iDevice. Sure I said it rather roughly...I'll edit that.
In one sense yes. But it also shows how PCs with amazing hardware are simply getting crappy console ports. Consoles have 5 year old hardware. And what do lazy developers do? Just port it to PC. Same graphics. Same everything. There are barely any games that utilize all the extra hardware on PCs. Same thing applies here. All the extra power is wasted because of the silly $10 barrier on the AppStore and because developers simply don't want to use it.
The GPU is not really a rumor. It's confirmed. Apple wouldn't add a whole new driver bundle for hardware they will never use sometime or another. And the PSP2...well that's a rumor...but if it is real it will have specs that blow everything else out of the water for sure. Just like the original PSP did. 6 years later it still has some of the best mobile graphics available.
Problem arrives about ten pages ago when that kid started comparing an unproven/unreleased console to the iphone. And insulting everyone who disagree with him in the process.
Look at the Wii. It is a slightly upgraded Gamecube and it outsold all other consoles. I wasn't kidding when I called them geniuses. Not only is the profit margin insane (due to the very cheap old parts), but they can keep selling it for 5 more years and make tons of money. The Wii is roughly as powerful as an original XBOX. Best business plan EVER. Screw over the unknowing customer, and make heaps of $$$. Apple does similar things on Macs. While the XBOX 360 and PS3 had insane hardware for their time. Nintendo did the same thing with the 3DS.
I would have to say the Iphone/Ipod Touch 4 are the best handheld systems to date. I even find it more entertaining than home consoles such as PS3/360/Wii why do you ask? because of the amazing games we get, the price of said games and the constant updating of the games. I'd rather have this than anyother console at the moment and I agree it is underated. Iphone/Ipod Touch 4 FTW 2010... er 2011
Actually, I'm just saying that the real problem starts when this Omega character made an appearance 12 pages back and starts arguing with everyone who doesn't share his views all the while thinking all others are stupid when in reality its the other way around.
