I've been a Nintendo (handheld) fan since the original Gameboy. Due to the dust on my Nintendo DS thanks single handedly to my iPhone 4 and the multitude of new games I acquire every week, I'm not even considering getting the 3DS. iPhone FTW
Wow another pointless thread that's been done to death. Never ceases to amaze me how many people like beating a dead horse.
Wow, another pointless reply that's been done to death. Apparently, you like beating dead horses as well. J/K. The opportunity was there, I had to. Sorry.
What are you exactly trying to prove with this post? Comparing some horrible looking 3DS games (which are just quick ports like Chocobo and Ridge Racer) with what you'd consider "great looking" iPhone games? My my. Seriously, what's your point, huh? And you are comparing Shadow Guardian, a godawful looking game with amateur use of effects (seriously, that screen is laughable) with Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater, which looks better than any other iPhone game in the market (and it will be an actual game instead of a glorified tech demo like, say, Infinity Blade?) Heck, Resident Evil Revelations, which is a first generation 3DS game looks, again, better than any other iPhone game (4.0 being the latest revision of a device that has been 3 years in the market.) Now take a wild guess how future games developed from the ground up for the machine are going to look. Consider too that, unlike with the iDevices, developers DO care about putting resources into these games. That's why you can't have a smart conversation with iFans. It kinda find amusing also that people use the "But but.....but the power of the iDevices is still untaped!" bs argument, as if you suddenly will start to see developers creating "amazing looking games." Get the point, or do you guys want me to spoon feed ya?
Actually you cant have a smart conversation with any fan. Which you prove in pretty much all your posts when it comes to iDevice vs 3DS. 3DS has a ridiculously low resolution compared to iPhone 4. No amount of better better shaders, effects, polygons can make its games better looking for me compared to retina display. But thats just me. You consider lower res more polys, effects as better graphics, thats fine too. But why is it a problem if someone else (including myself) thinks otherwise? Is there really a need to tell us all that we are idiots just coz you disagree with our point of view?
So you're saying that MGS looks better than not only Shadow Guardian, but every iPhone game on the market? I think you need to go and see an optician, because even a monkey could tell which game looks better. MGS, 3DS: Shadow Guardian, iPhone 4: That "screenshot" is obviously a bullshot because it's larger than the resolution of the 3DS. The actual game will probably look more like MGS, Zelda, Ridge Racer and all the other real screenshots we've seen. Sure, Capcom seems to be putting very little effort towards their iOS games. But that's just one lazy developer, and there are plenty more who are taking iOS devices seriously. As I said before, current iPhone 4 games already look better than the 3DS screenshots that have been released so far. There is plenty of potential in both devices. But especially the iPhone 4 because it's received interest from big developers/publishers such as Epic/chair, id, Crytek etc, some of whom have stated that the 3DS doesn't have the requirements to run their engine. Anyway, you only have an old iPod Touch 2G. The graphics have improved considerably with 4th gen devices, so you are comparing the graphics of two devices, none of which you actually own. I'm not saying that the 3DS is going to be bad. I'm sure MGS will be much better than Shadow Guardian as an overall game, and Resident Evil will be better than the iOS resident evil games. But my point was to prove that iOS games can look great. I know lots of people are looking forward to the 3DS and that's fine. The difference in graphics are (or at least should) black and white, and easily compared. But as you should know, graphics aren't everything that makes a gaming system good.Personally I don't like the look of it, I'm not convinced by the 3D effect or the graphics, I don't like the controls, I don't like Japanese games (only MGS and RE interest me), I prefer the versatility of my iPhone. But that's just me and I know people such as yourself are going to have differing opinions. You just need to accept that people have different opinions, and stick to your 3DS thread instead of trolling iPhone games. Isn't there some 3DS forum you can join somewhere? It seems strange that you come here to talk about the 3DS and troll iPhone games, when after all this is an iPhone gaming site.
Considering that I'm playing the games on a tiny screen to begin with, OF COURSE that I take shaders, dynamic lighting, post processing effects over resolution. Resolution would be an issue if you were playing the 3DS games on a big screen. But you aren't. Hahahaha. No man, Shadow Guardian does not look better. Not if you like things that look good anyway. Like I said, SG is one horrible looking mess, with crappy geometry, amateur use of special effects, laughable animations and stunningly bad art direction. Not let's see Snake Eater. Better lighting, better geometry, bump mapping used smartly and not for the heck of it, bigger environments, character models that are very detailed and have high polygon count, great animation, rock solid frame rate. More important than everything I guess, it has an art direction that doesn't make you want to throw up. And comparing screenshots is pointless. Keep telling yourself that. There's evidence out there that proves you wrong. Go see a gameplay video if you don't "believe" the game looks that good. Do a little research before posting stuff like this. The developer that stated that "3DS is not as powerful as iPhone" is Epic. In other words, that's the same developer who called the Wii a P.O.S, Nintendo sucks, etc (Mark Rein more specifically) is far from an objective source. Also, you are doing a big mistake comparing games with "screenshots." In most cases, games will always look considerably better in motion. See a Kid Icarus Uprising screenshot for example, and then see a gameplay video where you can actually appreciate the framerate, image quality, shaders, lighting, etc. The difference is night and day. Trolling? Uh, Ok... If trolling is using solid arguments that I can back up, then yeah, I'm definitely trolling! Dude, I know this is an iPhone website, and if you just take a quick look at my post history, you'll see that I've praised many iPhone games, so don't come here telling me that.
You're comparing the best looking 3DS game with an awful (looking) iPhone game? Well it's not like that's fairer than the other way round... Also, the retina display is a big deal. Upgrade from an old iDevice to a 4.th gen one, use that for a month and switch back and everything will look pixelated as hell.
if you truly believe in the 3DS you should not have to come here and convince people. You should take your own advice ..........
The only thing is that the ipod and iphone are out and the 3ds isnt and I think its safe to say that the iphone is better than the current ds and psp.
I'm new here, but I have read so much on these forums , and... In the end none of this is going to matter. Us iphone fanboys are going to argue with the nintendo fanboys, while the psp fanboys are just sitting low until sony redeems itself with the psp 2. so why argue about it.
Just because Capcom released a lazy port to cash in on the App Store craze doesn't mean the 3DS is better than the iPhone 4, trust me if Capcom were to put as much effort in as Gameloft and many others (some being Indy Dev's) they would easily be able to give us a real Resident Evil with better graphics than that 3DS one. My guess as to why Capcom haven't yet is due to the pricing on the App Store, and them not quite getting the hints from harcore gamers that we WOULD pay well over £10 for such a masterpiece. Or Capcom are just testing the water to see if there is enough interest in thier game franchises before delving deeper into what is possible with the iPhone 4.
I did that on purpose. You should go back to your cradle. Is nap time sonny. I do hope you are talking about specs here, because if you are talking about the quality of the software, just no. I really doubt it. A teaser? Hmmm, there were 2 Resident Evil "iPhone" games before. Why would they keep teasing? Capcom, like many other companies, understandably, do not see the iDevices as real gaming systems, and that's why they will not create a mainline game of their standout series for the platform.
This a rehash of some older thread right Omega Fail. You don't get tired of this do you? I am tempted to open that thread and just copy paste from there since this is just getting too tedious. The OP is just happy with the Iphone 4 and you just can't resist to rain on his parade with such seriously flawed logic!
How ironic, a kid using the word "fail" in his posts talking about logic. Go play your iDevice if you are not going to add anything intelligent to this conversation (as if you could)
