Last Tournament (for Ice Math Ninja) we had many prices. iANiMex got the highest score (164,478 points) and won the contest when it ended at midnight ... but 24 minutes later, Tony got 165,254 points after playing the same round without losing for 2 and a half hours! Hi All, I just submitted test build 1.4#7 of Ice Flap Penguin. If you wish, you can use this build and the next ones to participate in the Tournament this week. This build has exactly the same Icicle difficulty as the final version on the Store. The main difference is that you can listen to iTunes background music while playing. Keep in mind that while using Test Builds your scores will NOT post to the "real" Game Center Leaderboards (but the scores won't be lost if you use the Facebook feature. If you install the final build later on, your scores will the transferred to the "real" Game Center Leaderboards). Jorge
Meaning to do this for a while; haven't really had the time. Wanted to leave my thoughts on all the current power-ups in the game. Gold/Earth- Great concept! Only thing I would change is that I would add a short time afterwards (a recovery time, think the blue power-up after the drill is done) and decrease the rumble effects and bounce back after you hit an iceberg. Green/Water- My personal favorite! Great mechanics and sliding physics! Would maybe switch the color with the blue power-up so it looks more water-like. Orange/Fire- Definitely needs a touch up. Most importantly, I would change it so that if you hit a wall with the powerup in action, you burn through the iceberg and lose the effect. Also, on the moving iceberg sections, this powerup really messes them up. It moves them downward before shrinking. I would try to get rid of that first part, it's extremely distracting. Blue/Air- Love this one too! As I said before, maybe change the color? Doesn't have to be green like the water, but blue fits that one more. Purple/Vortex- ERGH. The one powerup I actually hate getting. I know that the whole backwards mechanic is to make it more random and difficult, but it always ends up killing you. It will place you at the top of the berg, and because the recovery time isn't long enough, it will plow you to the bottom of the screen. Even when it boosts you forward, it will occasionally place you in death spots that you can't avoid. If you could change it to a set place, (right in the center of the icebergs) it would be much more enjoyable! (Keep the backwards mechanic if you decide to change it like I suggested!) New Powerup Ideas: (Updating Later!) Yellow/Lightning- White/Light Gray/Wind- ? (Green if you change those colors^^)/Poison-
Thanks for the feedback, Crimson! - Earth: I could make it so you know that it is about to disappear. So you have a warning. I do want to keep the rumble as I see this power up's drawback. - Water: Cool. I do want to keep it green because it has to do with my stories. There is more to it and a reason why it is green. - Air: I plan to make Pookie do a short twist when it flies, that's the only change. - Fire: I was considering that you could burn through an iceberg (since it makes sense), but then I thought it may be too powerful. If people agree on this, I'll change it. - Void: We'll I can certainly make it easier ... I just didn't want to make tooooo powerful. I can give it a longer time to recover then But I want to keep the randomness of it, so you never know where it'll take you, otherwise, this is the same as the Air power up. Anybody has an opinion on this? I look forward to your suggestions for the next set of power ups. I already have 2 of them defined. Ooo sounds interesting? With to the void, if you set boundaries as to where it could place you so it wouldn't auto kill you (which especially sucks at higher scores, it killed me at 179 today) than I'm sure it would still be fun and challenging.
Okay, okay. Next version it'll have a longer recovery time, enough for you to be able to get back on track and not crash. But it might still send you back every blue moon, so that it is not so powerful. For this contest you want to avoid them Void Powerups
The backwards part is great! I just hate it when I'm expecting to jump 15 ahead Oh and about the fire powerup- I'm sure people would agree that if you hit the ice and burn through it then the fire fizzles out and dissapears. If it didn't, it would be way OP. So we've got elemental and electromagnetic... I wonder what else you've got up that trick bag? I'm wondering how the EM ones could work... Brief preview?

I'll change the fire ... version 1.4 or 1.5 About the EM ones, I don't want to spoil it, but, maybe you guys can help with ideas: - This has to do with my stories, so this is not exactly science, it is fantasy ... so "ElectroMagnetic" is probably not the correct name. - There's 5 of them and they are: Magnetism, Electricity, Sound, Light, and Radioactivity. - As I said, I have 2 of them figured out. - I *may* make them work if you push a button. So you grab them and a "button" is create. While you have this power dormant, you cannot catch another power up, but you can push the button to activate the power up and use it when you need it most But that'll be version 1.6 or 1.7 I think. I still need to make the store, the costumes, ... and I'm struggling with the music right now. I want to make the music a bit cute, yet techno ... inspiration comes and goes, but I am getting there.

Thank you I was a little insecure about the music, but now I like it more and more. So, I'll be sending a new build today/tomorrow with the credits screen and then if all looks good. I'll send that to Apple tomorrow. This update should include the secret level which I now plan to include after level 100. The reason that I am placing it so far away, is that I plan to sell lives in version 1.5 update, so you should be able to reach the secret level if you buy lives, even if you are not a good player. Update 1.5 will add the store, I plan to send this this week. You will be able to buy lives and powerups. In update 1.6, I plan to add costumes. Lots of updates ahead Jorge
Credit screen is wonky, off placement and some ice thing falls down and won't go away. Also, there is no way to exit the credit screen. Btw my name is missing from the tester section, just giving you a heads up
