Ahh thats too bad. Other than that i hope the items and magic get more.. I dont know, useable??. They are, "useable" of course, but i dont feel like they are really aiding me a lot, or getting me out of super sticky situations, I dont feel creative when i use them, or like i am learning to use them. Now i am thinking back to shirin(before with the corpses i was thinking back to nethack i guess), and i remember that game you really felt like "you" were getting better, not the character obviously, because each run you learnt new uses for the scrolls and spells and such. There was such a perfect variety to them. I love fargoal, but somehow i feel it is "missing" something in this regard. It is hard for me to pinpoint, because maybe it is just me who feels this way, and because on paper fargoal obviously does have lots of items and spells... Thinking about it, it might come down to a difference in how the games played, shirin you were always stumblimg into situations where you were surrounded, underleveled, and had tons of scrolls you had to blast off to get out. While fargoal i have never felt this. Ahh, im rambling, i love the game, but especially i enjoy that the dev is here and active, so I like to throw my ideas out there... This one wasnt even an idea, dont take it as a critisism though because the game is wonderful, just a thought??
Offer? Don't understand this. I picked up a Mystery potion. Now when I land on a temple the active button say Offer (am I remembering that word correctly? Well some word I've not seen before) but when I hit the button nothing happens, nothing that I can see anyway. Please clue me in.
Vinvy, I hear ya... there are always way to improve the game and throw you into more unexpected situations where you will have to think your way out. The original C64 game didn't really have much of that, but we are evolving now and so any ideas you guys bring up will be assimilated into the collective consciousness and perhaps turn into something later. Doffie, uh that's weird. Well, I was working on the ability to "offer" something at the temple, but it's not done yet. I guess that's what you're seeing. Shouldn't happen with a potion though. Anyway, you're not missing anything, it's just unexpected functionality. Will take a look at it. Yay, more free testing.
Okay, I'm still playing that game I was playing where I said I felt invincible and now I found the sword. On the same floor I found a fire drake treasure horde. I didn't know there was such a thing, but it was pretty cool. Anyhow, I havent even left the floor yet and I lost the sword twice already to a monk and little b**ch rogue who won't give it back. He teleported off screen and went to a different floor (I used a telepathy potion). Does anyone have any advice on keep the sword after you get it? Or even any advice on how to find the rogue who stole it? (like did he likely go up or down?) After all this time I'm going to be pissed if i can't get it back.
when you do get it back, if you have lots of invisibilty magic stashed away, that might be a good time to use it. He is likely to have gone down. They usually travel with the sword away from the entrance of the 1st floor and I don't think that has changed, someone can correct me if I'm wrong. If you can't get it back, well, the badies did their job and its all part of the fun! heh Good luck!
Yeah, well, I guess that's me, always ahead of the curve. Or maybe you're just trying to make me feel guilty for having so little to offer, Paul. Another thing: I was on a level with 2 down staircases. I tried to go down one and got a message saying I couldn't -- first time that's happened to me. I didn't take it personally though and the other staircase worked as expected.
Every bit of feedback helps, Doffie. Nice to see that my stairway linkage precautions are working nicely. Prior to this update, in that situation you might have ended up walking around invisible and annoyed. Just ask bluewobblez.
Plus, you can just explain it away as the stairwell or hole in the wall having collapsed from an earthquake or something. Yay for contrived explanations covering unintended level generation problems!
Heh yes... it's a nice way to both debug problems and provide a bit of random atmosphere. As long as it doesn't crash and all of the levels connect up, meh!
Why do you keep calling me Wobblez? re: what you said about limiting the max HP etc.... I like this idea - it would make the Wand of Striking more effective on the later levels for example. In the meantime I'm looking forward to the next update and the surprises it'll bring. Can I suggest making the barrels and clay pots of some use somehow rather than just being decoration? (I know the barrel lids can be used as shields). Also, under what circumstances can your shield deflect a dart trap. I've seen the dart rebound when carrying the war shield for example but others sometimes get through. Is it just down to chance?
It is fun to call you wobblez. Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball. Yes, I will look into the HP balancing, though not for this upcoming update (Friday). Yes, the barrels do occasionally contain something now, but there is more planned for them indeed. Pots contain snakes and sacks and spells... what more do ya want, eh? Flowers? Deflecting a projectile is down to chance, as well as "awesomeness." The more awesome you are, the more likely you are to deflect a dart or arrow. When you see a message "You feel more heroic!" then you know you are getting awesomer.
Yes please, that sounds nice. Or a great big venus fly trap that eats you when you get to close. Either one.
What a great movie scene! Filmmakers, do you read this?! Edit: If you ever create a bathroom dungeon for SoF, I wanna be the enemy character White robot guy with blood everywhere... nice.
I agree - this HAS to be included! P.S. have you looked at YPR's work? http://www.yourpersonalrobot.com/ He is AWESOME!
Hey, wow. Thank you, mate. It really makes me happy, if people like my passion (besides being an iPhone nerd). But pssst, it's about idevice gaming in here
