How did you get locked into that room? Did you not see the big-ass frickin' scary skull on the door then? Or perhaps, scout ahead a bit using a light spell? Hey, there's a big-ass frickin' skull on a door! Let's RUSH IN BLINDLY!! YEAAHHHH. Hey, I would. But it's just a game, that's what makes the risk fun. Anyway, yeah you can avoid it or prepare for it in a variety of ways. RE: Bugs, yeah there are a few. If your guy disappears, just go up or down or through a tunnel. Hero is just getting denied access to some stairs that lead straight into rock, and doesn't reappear visually. EDIT: And, knocked down a couple of these bugs... looking good for a Monday bugfix update. Find more!
Wow, this game is epic. I got two enchant sword spells in one floor I'm so lucky. I agree that this game is not about rushing into a room blindly, you have to kinda think before you act. I do have a question though, what does the black orb do? I just got it and I'm not entirely sure what it's purpose is.
Yeah... but I have the feeling you're counting on human curiousity and that "what if" feeling... three times I've seen that damn door, three times I've entered, three times, dropped to level 4,7 and 12... three times a very untimely death... thanks...
Tried to see if it was mentioned, but a question about the macabre shield. I find these are inflicting fear on myself rather than the enemy (i turn blue but not the humanoid target). Is it meant to be a bad choice of shield or general bout of fear for all? I can happily stick with barrel lids if so
It effects both you and your opponents, generally at random. It's kind of a double-edged sword ... er ... shield.
Isn't the hole in the center of the room? You open the door and have at least one step forward (where the door closes behind you) THEN the hole Are you running full speed into a room with a big skull warning!? If you have a wand of opening you can unlock the door from the inside --- Current playthough: Legend mode, Floor 13, Level 15, Sword +21
No wand, yet... but, it's so easy to dash around in a blur of wonderful pixels, I know I should slow down... What I do have is puzzling though... a black orb... Now, I cannot, for the life of me, find a bowling lane anywhere, so, I'm out of ideas .. what does this do?
Hmm, has anyone discovered a way to compare shields or judge shield quality? I currently have a temple shield and assume it's better than a metal shield, but it's hard to know for sure. Love, love, love the many great improvements and additions in 1.1, btw. Currently happily spelunking in Legendary.
Hey guys! Hmm, the macabre shield is *not* supposed to scare the wielder. Does this happen during battle? I will look into it. Vester, the black orb is for... something. I'm sure you'll figure it out. It's good though! And yes, anyone who rushes headlong through a skull door, well.. I can't help ya.
I've sort of been wondering myself. It's easy to check the durability of a shield but I think you have to kind of eyeball the differences and make some educated guesses. From my observations -- and these may not be accurate, they're just what seem to be the case so far -- this is what I think I've found: - When hit, shields take damage, and the amount of damage they take depends on the material they're made of; wood takes more damage than metal, for instance, and so will wear out sooner. Barrel lids are the bottom of the ... er ... barrel ... so they take like 2-5 points each time they're hit, while metal and similar materials may only take 1. - Different shields are prone to different effects; wood and leather are susceptible to burning (fire from traps, monsters, etc.) while metal degrades from acid. This one is harder to tell but I think the amount they are damaged by such effects also depends on material, so barrel lids would take more fire damage than a studded leather shield, for instance. - Specialty shields also carry with them special effects, such as the macabre (bone) shield which induces fear when hit. Normal shields are easy to work out which is better: Barrel Lid < Wood < Leather < Studded Leather < Spiked < Metal. Beyond that it's anybody's guess. I haven't found a temple shield so I dunno what it does. (I'm going to go out on a limb and say it either helps heal you faster when you step on a temple, or it reduces the amount of gold needed between blessings, or something.) Additional note: When you get blessed at a temple, your shield is also restored back to 100%.
Your assessment is more or less accurate, Mindfield. I'd go into the gory details, but that's no fun really, is it? By the way guys, really sorry about all of these bugs that have shown up. I tested the crap out of it, but so much stuff was added, I was bound to miss something. We'll have it in tip top shape in no time!
So VeganTnT has finished on Legend mode already, and you're still waiting to play. To each their own, I guess.
How many sword enchants should you expect to get over the course of the game? Also, about how many secret doors should I be finding? I'm on dungeon level 10. My dude is level 12 and my sword is enchanted level 12. I've found about 4 secret doors so far.
This is one of the mysteries. It's absolutely different each single time you play, I guess. That's part of the awesomeness of this game. I have to state it again: Right now, I have to admit, that this is probably my most favorite game in any genre, on any device. It's just amazing, how much this is entertaining me. Devs, do you read me? EN TER TAI NING! Thanks.
There is an odd yet pleasing symmetry between the conjunction of your alias and the way you enunciated that word like a Dalek belts out "EX TER MI NATE".
I know I act the clown a bit (a lot!) but I have to give you respect for being so active on here and answering all these questions and concerns, especially as you have to deal with all the crap on a part-time basis. Hopefully a new update will come through real soon to fix the bugs, I really can't wait to play through it bug-free, I can see how awesome the update has made it.
When you clear the game, do you get a score based on how many moves you took? I mean, otherwise the incentive is to go as slow as possible and farm xp till you get insanely bored? Speaking of which, is it necessary/advisable to full clear all levels before going down? Levels seem huge, so wondering whether full clear is needed/prudent.
