I show 73 pages, but I have the max per page set. I would put 100 posts per page or more, if it would allow it. Rixx
Madgarden my darling, I think all the changes and additions would thoroughly justify your releasing Fargoal 2 as a new game. What's more, I believe that the majority of your many fans (read:fanatics) would support this decision. And I think there would be a lot more publicity for a new release as opposed to "just" a update, even though it would or will clearly be a massive update. Lastly, I want you to make as much money as possible after the zillions of hours you've put into this. Fair is fair, yeah.
This is the last I'm going to comment on the matter of update/pricing plans.... From a customers point of view I think it's a terrible move. There is no greater voice than one of a customer who, these days, have an internet connection. SoF2 was promised as a FREE update for so long and now it looks like it will be a full-price paid app instead. I would imagine numerous people bought SoF on the basis the update would be free and now it isn't. Add to the the continuous suggestions it would be out long before now and it's nothing less than a big slap in the face. Look at the dev's of Star Command - they realised that money was needed to create the app and support it properly so what did they do? They ran a kickstarter to raise $20,000 and they managed it in less than a week! Why can't you do that too? That way the people who want to support it can do so and the others like me who think it's unfair to charge for SoF2 due to the history of the project can opt out. As it stands I will not be parting with another penny towards this or any future projects. It's not the cost, it's the principle.
I'm sorry you have such entitlement issues over something that cost you less than a burger. That's sad. But, you're right about principle here. It's the principle that someone like you could feel that they have the RIGHT to my husband hard work for FREE. That has really helped in opening our eyes when we make our decisions in the future. Thank you, for that. Yeah we initially thought we might be able to do it as a free upgrade, back when this was started and it was thought to be just a little upgrade, but it's turned into something so much more. Our fault here was being too interactive with our customers and game community about what we were hoping to do as a business. Our ambitions have gone far beyond what we initial thought. And our true fans deserve th best. Bottom line: You don't care about anyone but you and what you can get. Now, I may still be learning about this business, and will come upon many stumbling blocks along the way, but I do know one thing. I know that we DO NOT want to continue supporting that mindset that you displayed above. It's not all about you, dear.
I wouldn't mind at all if Fargoal 2 was a separate app. Some people might be pleased (and of course some, not-so-much), it's nice to be able to keep the original as is. Should've done it like that in the first place, imho, save all the tedious explanation about the universal chillingo one and the originally released Sword of Fargoal on iphone only. Doffie makes a good point. A shiny new app with new icon and all is better than "an update". It's fair you get paid for your hard work. All the best, devs.
Would you please go to to work for the next year for free, then come back and post if you still feel the same way. Pathetic...
Count me in as someone who totally believes and supports Fargoal 2 as a new app - Fargoal 2. Much too much work has gone into this game to even have it buried as an IAP. Madgarden started out with quite noble intentions as a free update, but one thing led to another and let's face it, it IS a new game now! So why not release it as such? Say it was an IAP - only current owners of Fargoal would see it / know of it. Many of them (I don't understand why, but hey it happens) might not even be playing that much anymore and might not see or notice it exists. Sure the thread can be updated and word can get around as much as possible. But the fact remains, only the truly obsessed will take that IAP plunge. But NOTHING like a brand spanking new release! It is after all, a totally new and revised game - so why not? It can climb the charts on its own merits, can be featured and reviewed as its own new app, oh the benefits are too much to list! So, please Mr and Mrs Madgarden, do yourselves and the iOS community a favor and PLEASE release this as a separate app - more exposure, more Fargoalites, more everything! It's what any good warrior would do.
Thanks guys, I am glad that the majority of you understand... it's not easy. Anyway, back to business. Here's a shot of the item screen:
Fargoal 2 as a seperate app. Count me in. With pleasure! But perhaps also give it another name than just "2". You can be more creative. And, with a single interesting title (like Fargoal Legends) you might also win users who don't own part one but would be afraid to get this one thinking that they would miss something. I just think that this game is so timeless, that a simple "2" would make it seem less timeless. (sorry for my bad English right now, and it's really just an unimportant and very personal opinion) So, Fargoal and Beyond, Furthergoal, something like that But earn yourself a bit of money. Your fans are with you.
Fargoal Beyond sounds cool! We already have the "2" icon and in-game artwork done though... but still! Something to keep in mind.
Great idea to have a name change which includes the word Fargoal (definitely want to support its long tradition!) but that also distinguishes it in some way. This forum clearly represents only a small sample of Fargoalholics, but it seems clear from the comments so far that you're unlikely to lose any of your loyal fan base by introducing this as a new game rather than an update and I have great confidence that you'll be able to make a BIG splash with the new game and entice new players into your dastardly dungeons without losing any seasoned players with the possible exception of the bluewomble (who needs him?)
