Sorry I've been a bit quiet in here lately guys... I will post up some details next week after all of these Xmas shenanigans are over.
Do you also die from hunger in this game as in '100 rogues'? I had this game on my radar but bought '100 rogues' first due to the sale. I don't enjoy this 'game mechanic' at all, so I'm asking if it's also in Fargoal.
No, no hunger in this game. But it's still similar to rogue type games, which are inherently very difficult. Unlike more recent RPGs, rogue types are not intended to be easily completable. In fact, the original rogues were so hard to finish - it was more about the gameplay itself than the win. 100 Rogues and SoF I think are easier, but there's still a fair amount of luck and strategy needed - more so than the RPGs out there that just involve lots of grinding. I gave more info in my response cuz I saw your posts on the 100 Rogues thread - it seemed like you didn't have much experience with rogue types.
Nope! No hunger. But you will die. Trust me. You will. ps. You can play squire mode which leaves you at the last temple you visited though, so you don't lose all your progress. In hero and Legend mode you die. Game over, restart. Yeah, what was said in the post above mine! He beat me too it, DOH!
Ah OK, details... currently regrouping after the holidays. Stuff is coming together, but (as usual) it's more work than was the team was expecting. But, here's a fairly recent action shot to string you along:
Am I the only one to picture someone dressed in Shakespearean type clothing, "very woe is me" dread face on, saying the above? Ohes teh dramaz! Seriously though, you guys rock!
Sounds very cool - looking forward to it. On a side note, Wizard Hex is a fun game - very well done, albeit a bit easy (even on Master level, I beat the AI last night in bed half asleep in a couple minutes). Doesn't seem like there's much difference in difficulty between the three levels.
Hm...sounds a bit scary for a prospective customer like myself. IAPs of gear and such is a big turn-off for me. Plus, what if I just want to play the original game without all the new changes?
