It seems like the game has gone freemium. http://idroidstation.com/super-stickman-golf-2-might-gone-freemium/
Normal, its a nice golf game but it had freemium stuff before, no wondering why is going freemium (thats why I didnt bought it on the first place), They abandoned the successful model they had on the first one, where they had a lots of success and added lots of freemium stuff, going the other way, until they hitted rock bottom and made it freemium in hopes of resurfacing (and probably wondering why it didnt click hahhahaha). Now they even include a new IAP to remove they newly added ads. Lame move, Noodelcake. If you had sticked to your guns, you would have a success. But no, you went greedy. Hope you learn.
That totally bites. I had no problem buying this at launch as the first one was awesome. But I was a bit miffed that the original launch for SSG2 made it to where it was impossible to get enough bux to buy all the hats without dipping into IAP. Granted this seems to have changed some with the updates but I totally hate the bait and switch of buying something and a dev changing it to freemium. Needless to say I'll never buy another noodlecake game. I don't care if it "works for me" right now since I have an old save backed up... what about those that deleted the game and go to redownload it later only to find ads and ransomware for something they already bought? Heck that could be me if my old save gets corrupted or something.
Yeah, but what happens when you do a fresh install without having a backed up save? It will most likely do what every single other app does that goes this path and it'll think you are a new customer and thus get ads. I can test it later on one of my kids ipod systems... but this kind of change never works over the long haul.
I got the game awhile back from one of those places that trades in points for apps. I redownloaded on the ipad and have no ads. I have icloud data saved for this game, so that could explain the lack of ads. ... Or they haven't turned on the ads yet.
iCloud trumps the ad thing from what I understand. I don't have any ads either because iCloud worked for me... but I'm going to try it on one of my kids ipods to see if the ads show as the site reported.
The ads are only shown to help us monetize off our free sales. (We barely make a significant amount of revenue off the ads, and the ads are capped at 1 per 2 hours, which we think is fair. This is much more aggressive in other games). We have technology in-place to make sure people who paid up-right for the game never see ads. (regardless of uninstalls and re-installs) via iCloud, etc. We error on the side of caution when it comes to things like this... And when the game goes back to paid, paid users after sales never see ads as well. Our games are typically not in the top grossing lists on iTunes, so this helps us make a little money when we do a free promotion for our games. So in overview, this a way to help us monetize a little better when we do free promotions... We think it's a good compromise. We've done free promotions in the past, and it's greatly helped us with paid sales in the future. Unfortunately for us, this is the market we compete in, and these types of things help us stay competitive. However, nothing about this should ever impact a paid premium user. We do try hard not to disrupt that experience at all, and if your experience is disrupted just shoot us an email and we can do something about it!
Noodlecake, you say "when the game goes back to paid". So is this truly a "sale" or will it remain free(mium)?
I love this game, but I think my wife loves it even more! We both love this game and my daughter is playing it too so you have three good players that are pretty big fans. I'm getting no ads, and insure hope it stays that way as ads = uninstall for me anyway. I bet my wife would keep going though. Multi player against each other is a lot of fun, maybe our favorite feature.
I have to eat my own words about SSG2 going freemium and apologize... Sir that is a new tactic for free games and seems very fair: you can try it, if you like it you can remove ads and good to go . Who bought the game before just need to wait the next update or can support the dev even further. And NoodleCake can keep making games. Excellent. Everybody wins.
What happens if the reinstall isn't from previous purchases? The itunes store locks up on me, so I log out before I reinstall an app.
