Ok from the feeback I am getting its 1. icon- that gets you to click on it and see what's it about 2.ScreenShot Graphic's- that lets you know the quality of art which generally will make you think the gameplay is polished too. 3. If you happen to be online and see a youtube video displaying the game in motion lets you know if its your type of game. Wow the icon really is on the top of the list!! Thank you guys just one more question, the feedback has been excellent just wondering if you could name 2-3 icons that were so tempting you had to click on them to see the game. I know the tiny wings and spider secret of bryce manor did that to me. What icons would you list?
Where have you posted your requirements? I've gone through your last 20/30 posts on this forum and don't see anywhere where you've asked for help... I doubt this thread, considering the 'arguments' in it will be deciphered to be a call for help. Personally, I'd start a new thread in the correct area, post your screen shots, give your requirements (in a very very simple list) and take it from there. I'd be surprised if you didn't hear anything, but you might have to wait a short period. Best of luck.
well the problem with super be.. is not only what apple wants you to change.. thats like the absolute minimum to enter "the club".. but if you want any attraction this quality won't make it and you know it.. compare what you offer with something like this Wawa Land http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbqmJMZTXWY how do you compare to your competition? do you really think what you have is enough? 20-30k really? you worked for different companies before? really? you want to make something better ? really? well rovio and nintendo must be missing you..
Hey pixel power. I'll say this, for me personally, an icon would never convince me to buy a game. Screenshots and some gameplay footage are more what I look for. Obviously getting a YouTube review by someone like appspy would promote people seeing that video. That said, on the odd occasion I browse the AppStore, the icon and name are all I see. Like looking in a video game shop back in the day. The cover Art never had much to do with a game. It got you to flip it around and look at the back of the case though. New media, same idea. For the casual gamer you NEED an attractive icon. Some nice ones from smaller devs ( just went and browsed the AppStore to get a few examples ). - spellsword. - swordigo. - samurai. - great little war game. What captures my attention might turn someone else off though. You'll have to tailor your icon to the demographic of people you plan to sell the game to.
Ok the list by apple was 1. UI basically the restart button, home button, next level button, lets cut it short basically the whole UI in general. They mention the level select icons not as a requirement but suggestion. 2. They also pointed out 2 background images that by thier standards are blurry and pixelated. Thats the minimum requirements needed before resubmission.Apple seems to be very concern with UI saying that its important that the UI be clear and easy to navigate. I am probably not going to be the only one effected so everyone should be on notice from this point out.
You are just totally oblivious to what is actually being said aren't you? Read the thread again*, slowly, paying attention to what people are actually saying. You just don't seem to make the link that you shouldn't NEED Apple to tell you specifically what's wrong, many of us pointed it all out to you. Yet you STILL only want to do the bare minimum to pass submission. THAT is why I'm saying you are not listening to any of the advice. You also still don't seem to have made the link that to get the sales you want you HAVE to have the sort of extra polish mentioned in that video, not just fix some of the more horrific art assets. Also you are totally unappreciative and ungrateful that we are ALL trying to help you, including Mr.Ugly. * Edit: since posting this about 50 other threads have been merged into this one - the original starts about post 175. As if it wasn't a painful enough read before anyone who has read the new thread and got this far with their sanity deserves a medal.
This is yet another account of the previously banned user "yemi". He's the brainchild of Krehol Games, creators of such classics as Flybird, Genesis of War, Call to Duty, and last, but certainly not least, "A spongey boby jump". http://appshopper.com/search/?search=Krehol
Hey buddy, Apple is just trying to filter out Cheap games and I guess yours (graphically) didn't get passed the filter. Honestly gameplay look Like a game I'd enjoy, but you need to Graphically improve upon the game, Add Retina support, People love using their newest devices to it's fullest Power.
I read every post in this thread, not sure why, maybe hoping the OP would get a clue and understand what people were saying. BUT, just when I thought it was pretty worthless, that juicy video was posted. Excellent video. Glad I read this whole train wreck just for that video.
That video is priceless to wannabe game devs, but my favourite part of this thread making it all worthwhile was where mr.Ugly called him Roy.
I repeatly said I am going to fix the game when I get an artist on revenue share or if I have to pay. The developer Razoric gave me some much needed info via PM on how to go about getting an artist for an excellent cheaper price. I have said throughtout this thread I have contacted various artist about revenue share via PM and none of them wanted the deal. As far as gameplay is concerned, Iam proud of my game period. If you feel watching those video's on Super Meebo's Epic2D Platform Adventure the gameplay suck's then fine its not your type of game. If you feel the graphic's could be improved , of course Iam a programmer not an artist my art is nowhere near being great. The way Mr.Ugly and Demon Jim respond specifically is like I just threw together a game and put it out there. No I put effort which is evident when you watch the video's of the gameplay. The only reason I started this thread was to give a heads up that apple is being stricter probably due to past exp. I honestly dont know how this thread got out of hand. It started out good but became full of non-sense. A simple warning by me to let developers know whats the latest Apple guidlines that they are actually enforcing became Fuk PixelPower fest. Of course once one jumps in everyone has to go on the bashfest and not read a word I say. I dont see anyone of you guys who started messing up the thread ever "making it" if this is how you speak to people. I think Razoric for helping me with some very useful info. I also thank those who supported me, when the time comes Super Meebo will rise again bigger and better. Link to Super Meebo's screenshot and 3 video's showing gameplay http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=142603&highlight=super+meebo
Oh, about the movement - I watched the videos, but there is a slight issue of it feeling 'static'. The movement is too "all or nothing" - there needs to be an ever so slight ... sway to the screen movement. That would give it a smoother and organic feeling. As far as the art, you need to: Either do ALL of it yourself (even if it is crummy - it will be consistent) Or have someone else do ALL of it. You can't mix styles.
I'm going to be totally honest here... And this is based on over 20 years in the games industry. This game will fail because it looks cheap, rushed and looks very crude. If you study the competition (same types of games) there are much better products for people to buy. Now the best thing is to use this experience as a learning curve, and move onto the next game. Success comes from re-trying over and over. You seem to know how to code but your weakest points are design and graphics. You need to partner up with an artist. Toucharcade did a front page article on 2 people that use these forums who decided to make a game... The game is Mikey Shorts - use this as inspiration of what can be done in a partnership. But the fact is most successful programmers/game makers had to learn the skills somewhere and the first few games are pretty crap... and I include myself in this camp Remember nothing comes free and hard work will pay off in the end
Yeah, an icon alone is never be the buying factor for me. Icon + name would at least make me see the game description n screenshots. So it is interesting as well to find many people willing to buy games based on the icons
App Review Board As others have suggested, you can always appeal to the App Review Board. Link is here: https://developer.apple.com/appstore/contact/appreviewboard/index.html We have had success with appealing unfair rejections before.
I'd just like to add that the game title should be short (1-4 words). It is a dead giveaway the developer has bad English and a poor quality game when the title is longer than the description.
YOU should be the one concerned whether or not your UI is clear and easy to navigate. Apple shouldn't have to tell you that it isn't.
Are you serious , you gave the game one star because of no ragdoll effects. That one thing is hurting your enjoyment so bad? You got to be effing kidding me!!
