You kicked ass too man! I always enjoy our matches. Even if I lose, I still have a great time. Have you been working with Bison lately?
I'm working on Chun-li. Any advice? I'm a complete noob with her. For starters, what's a good way to anti-air with her? (see, complete noob)
Sweep or ex spinning bird kick. Its hard for her to anti air people jumping right on top of you without charge and meter so sometimes focus backdash is better. Backdash alot with her, she has the best in the game.
Thanks, that's actually a big help. I didn't even notice how great her backdash is until you said something. I think she's going to be my main for a while... soon. I'm still getting used to her. I normally main Akuma and he's totally different. I'm catching onto her pretty quickly, but I'll need to really get used to her methods before I go into ranked matches with her. I also have to get used to charging. I don't get why she isn't used more often. She has some brutal combos, a insanely powerful ultra that hits easily, and she is confusing as all hell in the right hands (probably more unpredictable than anybody in Volt, IMO). I think her huge jump can be a downfall but she can also wall jump, so it's handy if you're clever about it. I try to avoid jumping with her, though. I learned that quickly. I think she's going to be high on my list.
Shes ok, I still reckon abel is the most unpredictable though. But yeah, her high/low mixup is really good and her throw range is great. I think shes the only character who can combo off an overhead which is cool.
That's interesting. I think Abel is more predictable than most. With me, winning against him has been mostly about trying to break his block (and avoiding that ultra). Chun-Li has always been a nightmare for me to play because she manages to hit me no matter what I try to do. If I think I'm predicting her correctly and block, the she always manages to hit me. If I block high, I get a sweep. If I block low, I get that flip kick (hazanshu). She's a tough one for me all around.
Looks like TouchArcade won the tournament! My team won 4th. We have a way less people, so I'm not upset. I'm glad one of us won.
Use autoblock. Check her range. If she's not in throw range when you wake up, tap down briefly. She will either sweep (blocked), or go for one of 2 mixups: her flip kick (which will hit you if you are crouched) or her kick that goes over and behind you (it will also hit you). Simply let go of your crouch and either option is blocked. This requires fast reflexes, but it works most of the time. Unfortunately, even with a LITTLE lag, it can fail. I tried doing it with reaction on Blanka, and even though my finger is off crouch, it still wouldn't stand in time. So maddening.
Im gonna sound like a douche here but nobody plays abel well, at least none of the abels ive played. He has so much potential to be scafy after a knockdown but people dont spend time looking into his options, they just pick sagat/akuma/ryu/ken instead. Its actually pretty easy to block hazanshus on reaction, so just block low by default and be ready for the hazanshu. Akuma is actually a complete nightmare for chun, his zoning really gives her trouble. Even worse, her one good reversal (ex sbk) loses to akumas demon flip dive kick, so she gets completely raped after a knockdown. Youre forced to block because demon flip dive kick will catch backdashes and beat ex sbk, but then he can do demon flip throw instead, so its a guessing game thats heavily in akumas favour. Then if you do guess right its easy for him to get back in and you have to deal with tick throws, his super, overheads etc, if you guess wrong akumas high damage + chuns low life (only 50 more than akuma) means rounds can end really quickly. Akuma and viper are the reasons i stopped playing chun a while ago, they are terrible, terrible matchups.
So where is the "winning" replay they mention when I go into the game now? I get a "tournament over!" notification but no sign of the winning replay.
General strategies: - full screen - fireball, fireball, fireball =P - 3/4 screen - fireball, and when they jump over, you can anti-air with a sweep. You hurtbox for the sweep is pretty tiny, and usually it has priority (but sometimes it'll trade damage). to mix it up, you can also Hazanshu, if they're learning to empty over your fireballs. - 1/2 screen - low-punch > fireball pokes, low-sweeps to get distance. - opponent knockdown - fireball on their wake-up, followed by hazanshu > EX legs or hazanshu > legs > sweep. reasonably safe, unless they squeeze off an SRK between the fireball blockstun and the first hazanshu. You should be able to time it so that there's no gap, but it's tricky. - your own knockdown - get ready with that EX bird kick charge, if they're on top of you. if you're near either end of the stage, you can follow the EX bird kick with an ultra, if the opponent is tossed against the wall. - almost never jump - sweep sweep sweep - apply constant pressure after opponent knockdown - most matches i've had with chun li, mirror or otherwise, if chun li is pressured, she's in a tough tough spot. if she's pressuring, opponents are usually reeling.
Well yeah, Ive been having fun with him in ranked a little bit lately out of Guile burnout..I think I'll put him somewhere in my top 5.
@fffan -you have won, I had made many mistakes, my hands sweat so much so I did not realize any "cancel skill", you can see in three replays. we still have one again, tomorrow, and 3h earlier than now, can u? now is very late in VN, my mother called me and scolded me because I have not slept
I got to play a 3000 bp Chinese Sim this morning and completely wrecked him. No where near your skills. I'm surprised your not in the 3500bp range.
If you're so busy, we'll just play some other time Police. These little breaks seem suspicious... We have one more full set to go.
