They were some great games before vaceotyn, still havent found a better viper than you (yyhakusho is great too, but like hes said before, youre more patient). Not counting when you used cody and ryu, it was 8-7 to me, but to be fair you missed two combos into ultra. We definitley need to play again, fei-viper is a really fun match
Sorry that I missed an invite from someone. I saw it when I turned on my phone but didn't see who it was or when it came in.
it's me dude... yo my friends today i can play online but not now i have dinner...i'll will invite you one by one...
The Blanka match up really is not a hard one at all, I've been playing Fei since the update and that was one of the match ups that I said right away was not hard. I'm sure a skilled Blanka can give Fei trouble but thats not the match up that's skill vs. skill. DROQQA is right the match up comes down to punishing Blankas specials, all you need to do is maintain a distance from him and it almost forces him to use Blanka Ball or the cross up to get it which you can punish. Based on the few times we played I can assume that you play Fei aggressively which is fine but not for that match up, Blanka will eat you alive in a aggressive match up, it's all about being patient.
Ja. Against Blanka it's less "Be water, my friend" and more "be boring." All of Blanka's ins are punishable on reaction by Fei. What's more, you have a safe special-poke to snag free chip. Relax and wait for him to elec, jump-in or ball, then get to rakka-wreckin'
But youre assuming that the blanka player will just do random stuff that is punishable. I know its not feis hardest match, ive beaten (and lost to) good blankas before. But if they actually know what theyre doing and dont just randomly slide or ball, i think its in blankas favour. What people forget is that most characters can punish a regular blanka ball, that isnt a huge advantage in the matchup, it just stops the blanka from being reckless.
Isn't assuming what the other player will do exactly how Street Fighter works. If you put Blanka at a certain range it gives him limited option, so therefor you can do exactly that assume that he will slide, Blanka Ball or cross you up and prepare yourself accordingly. The bottom line is you cannot be the aggressor in that match up Blanka has a better and faster close up game. As for Fei's hard match up's I'd say he really only has two that are unbearable at times for me that is Dhalsim and Sagat.
Most characters can punish balls if they can do it in a near-perfect frame timing. A lot of time they are a frame or two off and I end up blocking and get MY free punish Meanwhile, Fei's punish is so fast that you actually have to wait a few frames before you do it, just to get the full whallop. That difference is enormous - even if you screw up, you are doing damage (while other chars are taking it). In this wierd skippy / laggy environment, it's no small thing. But just the mechanics of the chars seem to point to Fei. Simply don't take Blanka's bait. Move forward incrementally. Don't leave yourself open to slide shenanigans and that's pretty much the game.
I still disagree. If the blanka player knows fei can punish balls, then he has no reason at all to just do them randomly, same deal with slides. Your gameplan cant be, hes going to do a blanka ball, im going to rekka. You cant jump in on him on his wakeup, crossup or not, but he can cross you up after a slide or throw and it beats flame kick.
Haha I'm not trying to sound like a douche just being argumentative I guess but if the Blanka player knows that Fei can punish all the things that make Blanka strong in Volt, and therefor won't throw them out fearing being punished wouldn't that mean Blanka would be doing nothing during the match up? Every Blanka I've played good or bad throws specials just as yourself or myself do when under pressure or frustrated, Fei has the ability to frustrate Blanka by not allowing him to get in which will cause most players to make mistakes. I'm not saying 100% of Blankas will be an easy match, your argument is based on "what if" when we have all been playing this long enough to know most Blanka's will be scrubby Blanka's and the ones that aren't will be scared of the fact that Fei will punish there mistakes and likely play more carefully and at that point it's a fairly neutral match up it then becomes your skill versus theirs.
Imo, saying 'just punish blanka balls, most blankas are scrubby and just do them' is like saying the ken matchup is all about punishing dps, most kens are scrubs. While thats true, you cant just assume every single blanka is jut going to do that. Otherwise, every matchup would be wait for a random spiral arrow/headbutt/uppercut/whatwver. Yes, they might throw a random ball or two under pressure, but youll probably eat a focus crumple-combo after doing a random chicken wing or something, or just whiffing a flame kick. And almost every character can punish balls without meter. IMO its harder to punish with all 3 rekkas than it is to walk forward sweep with akuma, and apparently thats a bad match for akuma in volt. Only characters i can think of that might not be able to without meter or ultra are cody and sakura, not 100% sure on that.
Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Two equally skilled (according to their points, which are all that matters) players. Its just tough for fei to do anything. Every time (except for one) that fei gets knocked down, blanka can crossup and fei is forced to block, if he flame kicked it would whiff, if he did a meaty jump in attack then chicken wing wouldnt work. Ex chicken wings invincibility would get him out, but it can probably be punished with slide. When blanka gets knocked down however, when fei jumps in, crossup or not, he gets hit.
I think that's the issue - you shouldn't be doing jump-in attempts as Fei against Blanka. There is no need to. Blanka is best against chars that Rush into elecs and rolls. Play patient. Don't push your knockdowns. Get the free chip from single reek's. Use flame kick at full screen for meter. Block low when he moves forward, flame kick the jump ins. The Blanka in your video was making use of various tools that simply are not available in Volt. The short rolls for spacing / grabs do not exist in volt. The Ability to do the ambiguous ultra doesn't really exist in volt because of auto block on the high hit (not to mention it is almost impossible to pull off, even without autoblock). The short hop has had a few recovery frames added, making short-hop to grab almost impossible to pull off (and incredibly risky against Fei) and preventing some of the hop + light elec block chip techniques available in AE. Simply use your tools to slowly get Blank in a corner. Then Blanka's tools are dramatically reduced. You can punish even hit rolls. He'll have to spend meter just to escape. No need to punish his wakeups. Play safe and you won't have any problems.
I didn't actually assume all Blankas were I said most were and, and you also agreed with that statement. The part you failed to put in bold for dramatic effect was the part were I said when a Blanka is a good Blanka the match up become a skill based match up and in that match up Fei has better tools. I just saw your video before posting, and it doesn't really do anything to prove anything other than what I said. The first round was fairly even Blanka got the advantage toward the end there and won. The second round Fei just played sloppy he made mistakes, jumped in on Blanka with meter and never punish blocked Blanka Balls. So on a even skilled match up it became skill versus skill and the Blanka was more skilled it had nothing to do with tools or character match ups. This was super and super's tiers put the match up as 5/5 which is accurate because a equal skilled Blanka vs a equal skilled Fei is a fair match up. Volt isn't Super nor is it Vanilla but it is closer to Vanilla which put it at 6/4 Blankas favor, now take away majority of their move sets and place them with their strongest normals and common specials and I feel like Fei walks away the stronger off the chopping block.
Nullroar do you have some videos of your matches in volt? After watching the video snooper posted (I know a lot if the stuff isn't available in volt) I feel like I may be missing some serious strategy.
