And what good is cake without icing, pray tell?? If only you could load apps on the Nano, speaking of which, no Apple TV update NOR a Tablet! Geesh! @ Seyoon Thanks for explaining the difference, well sorta... at least for noting the performance diffence. I'll go read the article you posted BTW, to TA Mods: is anyone gonna get to the bottom of the Gameloft's Nova thing? I'd love more info!!!
No problem. And double thanks to spiffyone for magnifying it. So lessen the cam moaning, pals . This is TouchArcade. It's all about the games and the future. I'm happy as soon as the processor and RAM is confirmed. Let the public feel sad and disappointed for the gimmicks. TouchArcade rejoices.
You're welcome. Ah...but the camera could've added quite a bit to the device in terms of gaming, tbqh. Imagine a new The Sims game from EA where we could put ourselves in the game by snapping a photo and using it as a face texture. I'm most disappointed in the lack of digital compass myself. No mention of that, and TA had a demo of a game using that digital compass in addition to the accelerometer for true 1:1 motion sensing. That would've been of ENORMOUS benefit to the games.
That part in bold is the biggest disappointment for me personally. I thought they'd either announce a new model, a software update, and/or opening up an AppleTV SDK as they did with iPhone/touch (and which helps sell iPhone/touch devices). But, nope, nothing, nada, zilch. "Hobby"? More like "completely forgotten". Kinda silly, as AppleTV is the product with the most potential of all of Apple's products.
Man, you're making me sad again. Nevertheless, it's all good. Even though the 3G Touch didn't leapfrog the iPhone like last year, compass, Oleophobic, mic, VoIP, etc, it's still a relief to see them headed to the gaming platform development. Feels good. I hope the devs are rejoicing.
Ditto. I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with our friend seyoon and say that the camera isn't a gimmick but a venerable tool and option for game developers, unlike a "radio" in the Nano. And also, I REALLY wanted the magnometer/digital compass, as utilized in the Zombie and rollercoster demos. @thegamereaper which flavor you gonna get? 64GB? @seyoon I just need to figure out if I should get an iPhone to replace my touch that just went bad last week with a line of dead pixels, or get a new touch since you're making it sound like not such a bad deal afterall
I stand corrected then. I completely forgot about some of my symbian games using the camera as well. Sigh~~. Guess we can't have everything. It price, capacity and thickness isn't an issue, the 3GS is the bigger brother with more features. They both have the same engine under the hood.
HEY!!! Anyone wanna go start a new thread in UPCOMING GAMES for the Gameloft's Nova/Halo clone for discussion? I suck at this
So, basically this was just an oblique way of saying they did bump the processor and graphics chipset to 3GS-spec. The phrasing was just nonsensical, but I guess he didn't want to get too technical. Also, for those complaining about the lack of AppleTV/TabletMac or whatever, you probably won't see those 'til Macworld in January.
