Hey, I'm watching the scroll for the iTouch Rock n Roll Sept 9th Apple Event, and first person on stage is quite an unexpected surprise: Steve Jobs is back!!! Standing ovation, people really excited! I hope the new iTouch has video camera and magnometer, i hope i hope i hope....
30 million iPhones 75 k apps 1.8 billion downloads, not including updates, or that Khadah guy. v3.1 os ready. Genius for Apps 3.1 available today for free download!
Really? I hope this fixes that wrong icon bug. Genius for apps sounds interesting. I love using Genius in iTunes.
Dude, on appleinsider, they're showing the new iTunes 9 which lets you manage and drag and drop your apps from the homescreen in itunes. Wow! @Prab oops, sorry man, gizmodo chatters are rough! I'll have to try to put up the Jesus Steve pict they have.... UPDATE: engadget has the best scroll of the event imo
I'll tell you what, I don't get it how Fieldrunners and others are porting to the other devices in light of these numbers they're showing: 21,178 game and entertainment titles on the iphone 3,680 on the DS 607 on the PSP Seems PSP and DS are doomed. I haven't touched my DS for half a year, tho I'd love to see Professor Lynton and the Curious Village-like game on the iphone.
OMFG!!!! FORGET EVERYTHING ELSE! NOVA IS GONNA RULE! But they gotta lose the text. IF Gameloft pulls this off like Modern Combat, this could be the closest thing to Halo we see....
I don't understand...why wouldn't you port? It's an additional source of revenue for developers. What benefit would they gain by being exclusive?
so, SO...the NANO gets a video camera, a radio tuner, and a speaker, and the itouch gets no camera...hmmmmm... AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
yeah, I know. Also, it's harder to standout in a crowd of 21k than a crowd of 600 i guess... BUT NO CAMERA?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?! @seyoon: I'm prob clueless, but didn't it have opengl already? Can you straighten me out on that plz?
I don't understand this part. The Touch, like the iPhone, has always been capable of OpenGL-ES. What exactly was being touted here? Also, I'm a bit disappointed by the event. I thought they'd cram more into the new Touch -- faster CPU at the very least. (Unless this was something to with this OpenGL business) I'm a bit surprised they're keeping the ol' Classic around too, I thought for sure this would be the year it quietly fades out. Guess it's gonna stick around for another year. The new headphones for the Shuffle made me want to scream ARE YOU ALL RETARDED? Seriously, what part of "MAKE AN ADAPTER" is so hard to understand? Doesn't need to be much. Male plug on one end, female on the other, control box in the middle. Why have Apple not done this? I just don't get it. Not that I care one way or another as I have no need for a Shuffle, but it just seems like such a no brainer. Also: APP ORGANIZATION, FINALLY, YOU BASTARDS. Now where the hell are the damn FOLDERS?
I could not of said it better. Must be why they didn't show a demo of OpenGL, and glazed right past it. This was really short on iTouch news and updates, after a fricken year!
The previous touch had ver 1.0 iicr. Much like the iPhone 3G. Then the 3GS up'd to ver 2.0 which had a significant increase in performance. http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/10/iphone-3g-s-supports-opengl-es-2-0-but-3g-only-supports-1-1/
OpenGL ES 1.0 was used on the older models (1st and 2nd "gen" iPod touch, iPhone and iPhone 3G). Those used an ARM 11 CPU and PowerVR MBX-lite GPU. iPhone 3Gs uses a ARM Cortex A8 CPU and PowerVR SGX GPU and double the RAM. And it can use OpenGL ES 2.0 due to that bump in processor power. The new touch is based on 3Gs tech, so same CPU, GPU and amount of RAM and now OpenGL ES 2.0 compliant. Graphics can get a sizable boost now.
