But if this plays ANYTHING like EA's Red Alert it will fail in a big big way. I think a RTS mini-ish game like Dota or even various missions in Warcraft 3 (where you control limited number of units, but no buildings) can be done very well on iOS platforms. Not a full fledged strategy game, it'll just be inefficient and tiring to play swiping on the screen continuously.
I called this one too, in the what is left for Gameloft to clone thread, I mentioned both Star Craft and Final Fantasy. Pocket Gamer says this will come out in January. In the world of the AppStore nobody knows for certain. Often times devs don't even know when their games will release. I suspect that Gameloft always knows though. This will not be a pre-Christmas release. Gameloft has five games lined up, but I wouldn't expect more then three to be released in December. This game and the Final Fantasy clone will be pushed back until early next year.
I think this is the most number of games Gameloft has ever had in production at once. We're still waiting on Nova 2, Dungeon Hunter 2, Asphalt 6, Shadow Guardian, Eternal Legacy, and now this! The game sounds pretty cool, I might get it. I'm still waiting for my Mass Effect clone!
I wonder how they will do the controls. When I play starcraft, I use hotkeys a lot and I'm going all over the map like crazy. I don't think touch controls on a small screen can handle all that very well. Hopefully they put some thought into it and utilize the touch screen, instead of just making your finger a mouse and putting tiny tabs everywhere for hotkeys. Oh and I hope they have an online ranking system similar to that of Starcraft's.
epic trailer! Wouldnt thought this is catching my attention but these moster giant creatures at the end, ... wow. looks like a RTS, right?
UCrazy? Gameloft would never do something like that at release. Anyway, if it's a clone, then WHO CARES?? Starcraft's not going to be ported over to iPhone/iPod soon, so why not? Like I said in the "What Does Gameloft have left to Clone" thread, there are going to be many people online providing it's a Gameloft game and it's good.
Wow, seriously I've never wanted a game more. Since getting the itouch years ago, I've hoped to play a rts like starcraft. While my favorite genre of games, rts, has had its share of great games..WI, Red Conquest, LASW, Red Alert, this is what I've been waiting for. Gameloft is on a freaking roll. Can't wait until the games start pumping out this month to January..
Why weren't the settlers a hit? Sale wise or quality wise? Cause no online play? The game was stellar and probably the most pc like rts gameplay on the advices to date with selecon and customization options.
Heh, I thought this was a GeOW clone at first. Idk if rts games can work well on iOS.. I hope Gameloft can make the controls good.
Yeah, their typical game takes between 10 months and a year to develop. So they're probably working on more games that we don't know about.
I wish blizzard or even nintendo make as many games in a year and work on as many at once. It seems blizzard just reeks in profits ancients and nintendo makes sequels or just waits for new systems to come out and after the hype dies down doesn't do much.
woooow finally a star craft clone on ios and from gameloft...yaaay that's what a game is about,,go gameloft gooo
Out for ipad in January: http://www.padvance.com/story/starfront-collision-ipad-hands-on-preview "There are a lot of great RTS games already available on iDevices, like Command and Conquer and Armada - Galactic War, but this is the only one we've played that actually feels like StarCraft. Why wait for Blizzard to get on the iPad, when StarFront will be here in January? Both the launch date and the RTS gameplay are close enough to count."
You do that both Padadvance and SlideToPlay are part of the same company (Slide To Play, Inc.), right?
