*Note this won't be the full list, there will be surprises (probably and notably FFXIII Versus) - EDIT: New title for iPhone - The Tales of Bearsworth Manor: Puzzling Pages - The Tales of Bearsworth Manor: Chaotic Conflicts - FRONT MISSION EVOLVED - DUNGEON SIEGE 3 - Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - FINAL FANTASY: THE 4 HEROES OF LIGHT (NDS) - Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days - Deus Ex: Human Revolution - FINAL FANTASY XIV - The 3rd Birthday / Parasite Eve 3 (PSP) - KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep (PSP) - KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded (NDS) So, one of the two upcoming Kingdom Hearts spinoffs is for DS (the other yet to be revealed one is being released in 2011 on an undisclosed platform which is not Wii, PS3, 360, iPhone). Just relased via SE's twitter, a new iPhone title will be announced by them at E3. http://twitter.com/SquareEnixDLG/status/15833120161
Probably not the best lineup if I'm honest. Personally, a lot of the games on there don't really appeal to me, I guess the ones I'm most interested in would be Front Mission and perhaps Kingdom Hearts and Parasite Eve, but that's pretty much it. Oh, and in regard to FFVersusXIII being at E3: http://kotaku.com/5473605/dont-hold-your-breath-for-final-fantasy-versus-xiii-at-e3 Granted, that was written a long time ago, things might have changed since then.
I'd like one on PS3/multi-platform. I had the first game but didn't get very far... I sorta wish I'd played more but can't be bothered setting up my PS2 and going back to SD just for one game. I've signed up for the FFXIV beta, hope I get in
That Front Mission game had better be awesome... I'm still kicking myself for not picking up 4 for like $3 on Monday when I was at Gamestop. And I can't believe they're already making another Final Fantasy game. It feels like XIII just came out, and yet they're already making XIV.
Yeah FFXIV is online, hence what I said about applying for the beta. Apprently they've learned a lot about that the fans want since XI. We shall see.
What's the deal with the Final Fantasy games? I never played any of them since I didn't want to cross the line into nerddom. Honestly I feel like it's some huge soap opera of a series of games. What is it on now? 14? eek But now I hear that they're different types of games??
It's not a huge line of sequels if that's what you're thinking they're their own seperate game/story. Only a couple of them are sequels/prequels(Final Fantasy X-2, Crisis Core, etc.) FF 7,8,9,10,13 and so on aren't sequels or prequels to each other. Oh and you're posting on an internet game forum, I think you've crossed that line already.
Every single one of the main, numbered games aside from XI and XIV which are MMO's (thanks for that info) has been a regular, turn based (except for XIII) RPG. While they all follow different storylines completely, and have somewhat different combat systems, the general idea, style of gameplay and combat, and core gameplay mechanics are there in every game, as well as the fact that they are all set in the same sort of universe, including materia, phoenix downs (or Fenix Downs in the US FFIII), chocobos, etc. There have been spin-offs such as Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, X-2, Mystic Quest, etc. that have (almost) always taken place during a certain Final Fantasy series. For example, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus take place during the Final Fantasy VII series, X-2 takes place during the X series (and basically ruined it), etc.
Oh alright, just making sure they're not an unending series of cash-ins. So the gameplay remains the same throughout most of the games? Just different stories? EDIT: Oh look Somrandomdude answered just that Damn, you got me on that last one.
