We hope soon -- it's still in review. We'll post here when it's approved. We also already have a good jump on a few things needed in the first update, but we need the first version to be approved first.
Awesome! So there is hope for this game this week, or next couple days, or soon, or well, there is still hope!
It must of or something odd happened - been over two weeks with no update and no release. Sad, I was looking forward to it and then completely forgot about it until I saw the thread reappear!
Hey guys -- It's strange, but here's the summary: About 10 days after submission, I received a note from the approval team indicating they didn't like that our in-app purchases were not required and not shown immediately. I explained that we don't intend for IAP to be required, you can finish the game without it, and you have to play at least the first few levels before the in-game store is available anyway, to avoid confusing people with too much info at once. Then we kind of went into a strange limbo... One potential issue is we do have OpenFeint, and at the moment Apple is rejecting all OF-enabled games due to a private API call OF has in their code. OF removed this call a few days ago, but back when we submitted we had the previous OF version. So I suspect what will happen is that Apple will eventually reject it and I will need to resubmit. Meanwhile it's still in review, though. I've never had a delay quite this long for a submission, but we're just 2 guys making a simple platformer (not changing the world or anything), so I think we just have to sit tight. Meanwhile the first update is pretty much ready to go, whenever approval happens, and versions for other platforms are pretty close as well, but we're hoping for feedback on the iOS version before we do much more on it.
What are the controls like ? Dont see any touch controls The videos look great, hope it hits the app store in the near future
There are 2 control schemes: default is on-screen virtual buttons which you can resize and position anywhere you like, and there's also a touch-only scheme with no buttons. In testing, the virtual buttons seemed preferable on iPhone/iPod while some people liked touch-only for iPad. Thanks, hope it's either approved or at least rejected soon.
Thanks for the quick answer, sounds great ! Love the look of the videos and i'll be getting this once its out. Cheers
My vote would be for approved obviously. Strange about the IAP. Considering SO many games have IAP for cosmetic things that are definitely not mandatory, why pick on you? Odd. And OF having that? You should just leave it and go with Game Center. When I switched to a newer device I never looked back to OF and can't remember the last time I used it! Here is hoping you get good news soon!
Wow, I forgot about this game until I just saw it in the thread list. Subscribing so I won't miss it when this finally comes out. This looks great. Oh, and I wouldn't even be looking at the new games coming out if I had an ipt 2g. It would be way too depressing. Someone needs to be nice for Santa. A bit off topic, but I really want to get my kids upgraded to the ipt 4g/5g but Apple is still putting the A4 chip in them. Do I go ahead and get them now for Christmas or wait for an A5 model?
SpyCorp is available now: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/spycorp/id445974923 Updates on the way include performance improvements as well as a step toward daily levels (our version of endless), among other things. Message me if there's something specific you want to see -- level editor? multiplayer? facebook or Web version? More action and fewer puzzles or the other way around? -- and if the game does ok we'll keep working at it. Thanks for supporting a couple of indie developers!
