I have 5 promo codes for SpringFling available to anyone silly and creative enough to think up a worthy "random spring fact" to be included in the pause screen of SpringFling v1.1

For those not aware, hitting pause while in-game will bring up a random spring fact. To give you an idea of the flavor, here's 5 sample random spring facts (the game currently has over 30 of these already):

    • "The spring was invented by ancient Mayans in an attempt to build an early bouncy castle."
    • "A great spring once said, 'My only regret is that I have but one spring to fling for my country.'"
    • "Contrary to popular belief, autumn is the best season for spring picking."
    • "King Leonidas of Sparta kept 3 springs on his person at all times. One in each shoe and one in an undisclosed location."
    • "Springs will often brag about how far they can extend, but their stories are often a stretch."

Entrants can submit as many quotes as they'd like and codes are not limited to one per person. Judging will occur after ~48 hours which means all submissions must be in by Thursday at midnight, Nov 12th.

EDIT: The example about King Leonidas is the longest your entry can be, plus or minus a few characters. Longer entries will be discounted.

I understand that I'm opening up a huge can of bad puns and lame double entendres but much worse has been done in the grand scheme of the Internet... and with that: Commence!

Springs have a light side and a dark side, but tension holds them together.

The sayings, "Spring forward" and "Fall back" were invented by Thomas Jefferspring, one of our nations founding fathers.

Contrary to popular belief, Archimedes discovered the principle of buoyancy when he accidentally sat on a spring in the bathtub.

If a spring bounces in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it go "booinng"?

Old springs never die, they just become slinkies.

There are two days each year when the daytime and nighttime hours are approximately equal -- each being 12 hours long. One occurs between March 19 and 21 and is called the Spring or Vernal Equinox.

Did you know that Springy The Springfield Spring put all springs on the map in it's first major TV appearance in The Simpsons?

gtjuggler's 3rd example was referring to autumn being the best season for spring picking, so I figured this might be useful. Unless he literally mean springs? do I perhaps not understand the quote?

It was just a play on words. I think he literally means springs, who knows though, maybe he'll like your original, anythings possible.

It's probably just a joke and I misinterpreted. When I saw fact I took it literally-I'll have to come up with something silly.

According to the laws of thermospringnamics:

-Springs are neither created nor destroyed, they just get less springy.
-A spring at rest remains at rest.
-A spring in bounciness, remains in bounciness unless acted upon by another spring.

From the movie, the Lord of the Spring:
One Spring to rule them all, One Spring to find them,
One Spring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

    How about these for "facts":

The average bed has over 50 springs inside.
Old hens actually taste better than spring chickens.
The expression "having a spring in one's step" actually comes from an accident when a worker at a spring factory got one stuck on the bottom of his shoe.
The word "Spring" is derived from the latin "Springeum" meaning "to bounce"
Springs were part of man's first method of travel-the pogo stick.
The town of Springfield is not just a big field full of springs.
Did you know that the most unstable material found on Earth is Springtonium?
Do you have a spring in your step? Check your shoes.

Update from the 'official' judges! *cough*

It looks like "Thomas Jefferspring" is a shoe-in at first glance!

Also the judges have asked me to make an edit to the rules. Entries can be no longer than my King Leonidas example, plus or minus a few characters. Otherwise they will be discarded.

Napoleon once had such an addiction to springs, that he kept one in his shirt pocket and never let go.
