Vovin - there is one ship only but You can customize it. By the way, You gave me an idea for question! What features can be customized in our driller? Handling, acceleration, minning rate? Venan - I am pleased You like Galaxy on Fire! I can give You a tip, that soon You can count on more space action...
Games we play: I know Alex is playing Mass Effect 2 right now but he'll have to answer since he plays more games than I do. I've been playing Demon's Souls a lot recently. Little Big Planet with my kids. Bloodbowl on the PC with some old board gaming buddies. Dragon Age as well when I have some time to kill. If we're talking iPhone, I don't game extensively on there - mostly because I find the games a bit too much like snack food. They are good for five minutes hear or there, but if you want to sit down and GAME, like you do on a DS or a console, there isn't much available. With Space Miner, we wanted to address that. And we wanted to do it in a way that was new and wasn't just a rehash of better games on the DS, and we didn't want to do a worse version of a game that is better on a console, like a first person shooter. In Space Miner, we sacrifice nothing - you aren't playing a port, you aren't going to get frustrated with the controls, and you aren't going to be saying to yourself you could play a better version of this on your TV or PC. Those things are important to us. Space Miner is completely ours, no money backing it. All the risk, and hopefully all the reward. Honestly, I think they would laugh at me if I asked them for the money it took to make this game. But if you don't have some big brand to back you up, I think it's up to the developer to make the brand, so you need to come out with your best stuff.
Absolutely. Hulls have mass and engines have thrust. If you don't have enough thrust to go with your mass - it will definitely feel like it.
Venan - Your last post told me a lot about Your company. You associate me a little bit FISHLABS - those guys are the best in Java games and now they bringing their success to iPhone business. You are all the same - working with fire, doing Your best. I wish You good luck, and "Space Miner" us definately the right step into the bright future. It is a pleasure to talk with You. And it will be pleasure to play Your game. With often, live updates
Yeah, I screwed that up sorry - I meant, by customizing your ship (different hull types for the ship), will this have an impact on the maneuverability? Easier / harder to turn? But you already answered that. And I am glad you've put that in... But everything you've said is quite appealing. I always love full fledged and good designed games on console level on my iPhone. You are the guys bringing the iDevices on more step toward recognition, that the iDevices actually can compete with all the other handheld consoles! And believe me - I never played N.O.V.A. on my iPhone. Why should I? I can play Borderlands, Half-Life 2 and Crysis on my PC. [outoftopic]Jarek: Yeah, Galaxy On Fire 2, if I am right - I already checked your web site... Can't wait for that! [/offtopic]
You did not play N.O.V.A? And You like Crysis? Don't You think it is great to keep nice FPS in the pocket? Ready to run anytime, anywhere? And don't worry - this thread is filled with so many questions - everyone messes them up [offtopic] Unfortunately, I can't tell You more about GOF 2 rumour. When I will see 2010 line-up - I will drop You a line with more details, friends. [/offtopic]
@ Jarek: I like unique experiences. You know, no dpad or touch controls can beat a good Logitec laser mouse and a Logitec G15 keyboard... 6-7 years ago in Germany, I was a known Unreal Tournament player. I tried FPS one or two times on handhelds and didn't like them. On handhelds, I like roleplaying games, puzzles of all kind, space simulations and adventures. Same with Galaxy on Fire, and eventually - Space Miner. They are designed for handhelds or mobile phones. Wouldn't like to play them on PC, maybe.
This is why we can't compare mobile and console / PC gaming. Totally different, but similar for the first look. Magic of mobile gaming is exactly its mobility. You can take it anywhere, play anytime, enjoy touch screen controls and social features. With PC or consoles situation looks a way different: You can play only at home, with additional controllers like mouse, keyboard or joypad. Depending on individual preferences, everyone can decide, which of these two suits him best. Personally I love mobile gaming. I find keyboard too restrictive - only touch screen can release power of websurfing or gaming (except FPSes). Although, small screen cause my eyes ache and I am tired after longer usage. Best,
I think this game looks pretty good. I'll be buying it at launch, provided it's not at some exorbitant, Gamelofty price.
do you fly some sort of miner space ship? do you only use miner weapons -deadspace style- ? Am I entered to win a prize? can my sector be called Magdalena the cat?
Wow this game looks amazingly cute! Btw, Venan, check your PMs http://forums.toucharcade.com/private.php
Too lazy to read the whole thread? The dev already announce it: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=830049&postcount=52 Everything from your questions was already answered - without that Magdalena question. Er... haven't you even seen the screenshots or the video? Then you would know what Space Miner is all about.
Meh. Pricing could be worse. They could be releasing a first-person dungeon crawler RPG with horrible controls @ $6.99. Based upon what I've seen so far it seems worth the $4.99.
Purchasing better ore collectors will increase the value of the ore you find. As for increasing the odds of finding ore, I can only say there are rumors of ancient alien technologies that may provide such a benefit...
