Haha, not sure if there will be a release party. Probably not Usually we finish one game and go right into another!
MKiKi - there is already big contest about Space Miner - You can count it as relase party Immortality Package contest!
Yes - I really love the caracter design. For me, it is always a huge advantage if there are characters with some depth in a game. One last question: do you plan to add aditional content in future updates? New maps, ships, upgrades? Would be also great if the players can make aditional level packs with a level editor and/or compete online... Imagine 8 player vs. player to get the best ore and to fight against each other. I think, this is a game which can be extended in various ways.
Yeah, getting smunched is generally bad. Okay, you want some questions!? I hear it is sort of a clever semi randomized asteroid mining RPG with buckets of achievements to unlock and sectors (if not randomly made, at least randomly placed) to explore, all good! But, Riddle me this, is there any sort of score? What happens when your ship is destroyed? Do I simply continue from some auto-save made before entering the last sector or will the game end and I get to post my score? Being a masochistic freak I'd hope the second but I'm assuming the first.
Just a few hours to go... then we have to wait for the announcement. I am really excited - very nice contest! Learned a lot about the game...
And it was the aim of this contest - to help people learn about the game, make their minds up to buy the game. I find it great as I already decided to pick "Space Miner" up - it looks too epic to miss such event
I dunno if you've already answer this but... how many levels are there? Also, from the screens you provided in the other topic, there's a level of completion based on the percentage mined. How exactly do you mine and what do you get from it? From what I've seen in the video you shoot rocks, but you also have a drill, and there are also robot enemies and such, could you elaborate on that or point me to the post that already answered the question in case I missed it? (been busy the past few days)
We have some update plans already, but we don't have a roadmap in mind. Once the game launches, we're going to make sure to look at the feedback we get to find ways to improve the game and make it more fun.
Score - Yes! Once you finish the game, you get to post a score and start over again in a New Game+. Auto-save - Yes! For a game of this length, to make people start over... that would be seriously mean.
Okay but how do you make it so folk by the end don't all have roughly the same score? How can a player distinguish themselves?
Yes - it would be great to win - I really like the idea of becomming immortal in that game - but I wouldn't miss that either. Btw - aren't you that "Galaxy on fire"-guy? I loved that game!
There are 48 sectors in the game as well as some side missions that don't occur on the map. Mining is simple. If you've played asteroids, it's pretty much similar, except when you shoot those tiny ones, it may turn into ore. Ummmm, Ore Good. The drill is special weapon you can mount on higher end ships that happens to be really good at busting up rocks. More Ore, Better! The robots are the bad guys. You need to shoot them on sight. They are trying to take YOUR ORE! That's right, I said YOUR ORE! Not someone else's, YOURS. That's Gritstone property they are absconding with, so don't let them get away with it And I hear their robot parts are worth somethin' too!
I want to ask a question for sure bouncing in many TA users heads: Does "Space Miner" have special graphic acceleration for iPhone 3GS? Also, How many enemies will we spot in the game? Can You share some details about storyline? Vovin - I am glad You like it! Don't hesitate to try also Rally Master PRO, which I find very amusing rally game. Excuse me this off-topic, guys.
I'd say about 6-8. It depends on your play style and your flying skills, since you can skip sectors to just plow through the story, but you may find some missions tough until you beef up your ship. If you are a completionist and want to mine everything, it will probably be over 10.
Lots of things go into the score. Since the game is about mining though, that's the bulk of it - mining out sectors and earning lots of cash. Finding secret items. Not dying. Beating the game on harder difficulty settings. It will be very hard for two people to get the same score, since pretty much everyone will be in the millions when the game is over.
Well, by acceleration I'm guessing you mean features, since it will just run faster naturally Right now the answer is no. But we're planning for 3GS enhancements in an update. It was in our original feature list, but we've been working on this game for about seven or eight months now and we had to scale back on some of our plans so we can get the game launched. That being said, I think we have a really nice looking game as it is. The 3GS enhancements will be more like icing on the cake I also liked Galaxy on Fire. I'm an old school Wing Commander junkie and it definitely gave me that space combat fix I don't find too often anymore. As for enemies and storyline - I'll leave that for the game. Discovering new stuff is a big part of the enjoyment value, and I don't want to ruin anyone's game experience. BTW, to all of you guys posting on this thread, a big, heartfelt THANK YOU. It's been great answering your questions and I'm really looking forward to your feedback once the game is launched.
Yes, I am a completionist. Every game so far took always longer for me to solve than for the average gamer. The Tomb Raider games were hard. I had to peek in and around every corner. So, I think that will be over 12 hours for me... pretty nice amount of content. I've seen far shorter games for 5 bucks, less polished. I sure will like to mine out every corner in every sector - and hidden items are always nice. Which games and genres did you guys from Venan like or play usually, btw.? And is Space Miner your own child or are you supported by one of your bigger companies, backing you up? edit: oh, and do the different ship types have different abilities to move/maneuver? (I mean: bigger ship = harder to turn, lighter ship class = easy to turn?)
