I took one but I forgot which one I took again! D: I'm pretty busy lately but I'll get a review up on the Aussie Appstore eventually. But here are my first impressions: The game functions almost perfectly. Everything just works. 5/5 for gameplay. I might give it 6/5 for it if my mood is good enough. But what this game lacks is polish. I'm going to say this very straightforwardly. The menus are ugly and the graphics have no standard. Yes, they're retina optimized as far as I'm concerned and it has a universal support for all iOS devices but they just don't look great. First of all, app icon is directly ripped off MobilityWare's Solitaire app but it looks slightly different in game. Then I feel that you shouldn't categorize different variations of the same game (like one or three draws for Klondike) as a whole new game. It feels more like a scheme to make it look as if there are more games included in it. For one thing, you try to get an interface close to Apple's standard format but in a slightly uglier colour. My advice is to either follow the standard completely or get away from this interface at all. It's usually bad to have something in the middle. Every menu looks broken with weird effects and bad transection between menus. One noticeable aspect is when you have the scrolling turned on, the background breaks into two section when scrolled down. All of these are very minor issues but it ruins the whole user experience. I can tell you right now that the game engine which you have built for this game is absolutely fantastic. It handles the touch gestures ever so perfectly and everything functions at incredible speed with minimal loading time. But without enough polish, it will never go anywhere. If you can somehow hire someone to do these graphics for you if you cannot manage this, I can guarantee that this will go into the Top 100 charts easily. The reason I'm spending all these time writing this is because I notice the potential in your app. It really needs a major graphics overhaul if you want it to rise among the top apps. You need to make it look clean, sleek and professional, but easily appreciated by a casual gamer. Keep your standards high, don't drop and raise your prices rapidly without cause as it loses the overall appeal from a buyer standpoint. If you can do that, I can guarantee you that this app will be very successful. Also, I hope that some updates can bring Game Centre support, as it will be a big plus in attraction, especially with that GC badge around your app name. And if possible, make it compatible with iOS 3.1 devices because I really want to get this wonderful app into my outdated first generation iPhone. Well, good luck in the development of this game! Thanks.
Hmm I honestly thought the graphics looked really good, both on my iphone 4 and first gen iPad. If you don't like the default cards, have you tried going to the options to change the card designs? Also I think the variants are fine. For example I will not consider playing Spider but I immensely enjoy 2 suit spider.
Well, I'm not saying the graphics is absolutely bad. I'm just saying that it's not up to standards considering the fantastic game engine. I really want this app to be around the Top 10 apps but you'd never see a top app with a rough design. I have rather high expectations so yeah. It's a little buggy too. I haven't found definite steps to reproduce the bugs as they occur very randomly, like when I'm playing Spider midgame, it suddenly reverts to Klondike. One overlook which I've found is that after finishing the game, the winning animation plays a little late. And after that, a new game immediately starts, without asking the user if he wants to replay or not. Because once the game starts, quitting it will count as a lost, so you can never escape from a game if you want full win/lose ratio. It also need some additional features like undo and a proper hint system. You can learn some techniques from Astraware Solitaire. It has great implementation but is slightly bloated in honest my opinion.
