BEST... GAME... EVER! And now seriously. I love Bomberman and any clone of the game. I remember playing Bomberman on PC (under DOS), probably my first experience with this genre. I'm not sure if there was Bomberman on ZX Spectrum, but it's possible, right? I still love playing Bomberman with my son on Wii (he doesn't because I always win) and clone for iOS is just dream come through. I have to say that Boomie Blast isn't Bomberman in exact way as we're used to. First of all, you can't die by your own bomb. So no matter where and how you place the bomb, it'll detonate when you're in sufficient distance from it only. Second difference is your bomb placement, which is completely automatic. Whenever you change the direction, you place the bomb. There's a timer so you've got 3 bombs and need a few seconds to refill. This is puzzle game. Your goals for each stage are different but mostly you need to collect specific amount of stars, kill certain number of enemies or destroy some parts of environment. So far there's 67 stages separated to 3 worlds. I gave the game a fair chance and finished the first world (24 stages) with 3 stars each. You're collecting coins and spending them on upgrades and power-ups. Each upgrade gives you additional second for specific power-up. You can also unlock different bombs and their purpose is the same as power-ups - additional time. Each stage has 60 seconds time limit. It means the stages are short and intense. You can grind for coins to make your character stronger (I suggest to grind in stage 22, you can collect over 200 coins in each run which is like twice more compared to other stages). The game's VERY generous with coins so it shouldn't be a problem to upgrade your stats relatively fast. Oh, and as of right now there are two characters to chose from. Both incredibly cute by the way. Well, so much for a short description what is going on there. Now the question is, how does it look, sound and play? The answer for each point is: AMAZING! It looks incredibly cute. Visuals are so polished. To give you idea, it looks like Oceanhorn. Yeah. That good! It's sounds great as well. But the most important is gameplay. And it's just gorgeous. The controls works absolutely flawless. Responsive, smooth. I probably forgot to mention that your character's movement is automatic and you control it by swiping to change the direction. That's it. One swipe control. And it works like a charm. I created Australian account just for this game and I suggest you to do the same. It's worth it. Btw, I should probably mention the game's free. But I really don't understand why. And how. Because there are no ads, no IAPs. So, I just don't get it. You download the game for free and you're having the time of your life playing it. Just like that. Something's wrong with the universe. That's the only catch I can think of. So, that's it. My 2 cents. If you're not from Australia, just create an account. Download the game and try for yourself. You won't be disappointed. It's not possible to be... Have fun! ------------------------ EDIT: oh, I forgot to say just two more things: There's implemention with GameCenter. There's 24 achievements and fair amount of social stuff through FB login, so you can see and compare scores as well. And last but not least. The game works in Portrait and Landscape mode. It switches automatically. Just chose what suits you best. What a masterpiece! (yeah, here's one nitpick: the game's title under the icon has dots because it's too long. LOL, there are no other cons about this game I can think of. Seriously. Just this one) Whaaat? ROGER-NL Well-Known Member May 21, 2012 4,030 340 83 Male Gamer. The 2nd island is much more challenging, I didn't get 3 stars in all of the stages yet, but enough to make it through. I'll go back later, probably fully upgraded. So much for replay-ability. The 3rd island seems pretty hardcore though. But in this particular case, I welcome the challenge. I already spent hours with this game and planning to spend more! It's just so gorgeous I can't get enough of it Grimstone82 Well-Known Member Jan 3, 2011 594 0 0 Northbrook, IL #9 Grimstone82, May 28, 2015 Last edited: May 28, 2015 Looks like I'm flying to AU to pick this one up! Edit: Just got back from AU, I don't really think it was worth the trip. The game has limited replay value for me. Even though the objectives change, it all just feels highly repetitive to me. I went into it thinking it was gonna be like Bomberman and aside from the fact that you have bombs (sorry, "boomies") it's nothing like Bomberman. Certainly not like the Bomberman games I used to play. And something about the character designs and animations really bother me. The whole game just feels... awkward. Deleted. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #10 macplash, May 28, 2015 I just finished the game. There are still 4 achievements I'm missing (all related to 3 stars per stage), so I'm definitely going back for those. Also, I didn't purchase even one boomie, just focused on upgrading all the power-ups. I found out that the best stages for grinding coins are Spoiler 61 and 63 , so I'm planning to spend some time there as well. After hours I spent with the game I can repeatedly say: it's a masterpiece. The difficulty is greatly balanced. 1st island is designed mostly to get familiar with the game but 2nd and especially 3rd are lovely challenging. Absolutely gorgeous game!
