I wanted an ipod to play my music, videos, games, and such. I DON'T want to have a wii. I don't like the accelerometer. No offense to apple, but it just isn't my thing. I mean, if i wanted to swing my ipod around madly and look like an idiot, i would've dropped $50 off the price of my 16g ipod touch and bought myself a wii. Anyone else frustrated that every game in the app store seems to use the motion based control feature and not the multi-touch feature? Just seems odd to me. Games like alive4ever and sway are more my style. All touch, and i can listen to my audiobooks/music while i play. perfect for killing 5 minutes or 30. ~Scy
We thrive on all sorts of games, not just touch. If you have a problem with accelerometer based games, just don't buy them. Complaining isn't gonna solve anything. And it's not odd at all, tilt-sensitivity is one of the main points of the device that stands out against all other products. It's natural that it'd be used often. Also, lots of games have both touch and tilt controls. Make sure you read the descriptions.
Trism without tilt controls wouldn't be trism. I agree some games should have various control methods, but some people like using the accelerometer.
The accelerometer makes the iPhone an iPhone. Deal with it or just sell your iPod. And I don't think I'm "swinging my device wildly" when playing Real Racing or Crash Kart.
It really depends on the game wheter or not i like accelerometer controls. There are some titles that the accelerometer is ideal for controling (racing games for example) - others work remarkably better utilizing the touch controls. It's not really far to say that accelerometer-based controls are lousy all around- you have to look at it on a title-by-title basis
I was just pointing out that practically every game in the store has accelerometer controls, and very few have GOOD touch based controls. I guess I'm a holdout, I liked the PSP and where everyone THOUGHT Sony was going with it (the whole two thumb stick thing), but I understand that's hard to do and I'm NOT complaining. I'm just saying why are there so many mariokart wii knockoffs, and so few really stellar touch only games, for when you're in the car, on a bus, and don't feel like looking like an idiot. =D I'm not advertising here i'm just saying a few of the games I DO like because of a unique and highly functional control setup are: Sway, Touchgrind (both by illusion labs lol), Alive4Ever (left4dead clone), GalCon (great strategy game, kind-of like Dyson for the PC), Spider (great swipe based jump controls, should be in more games) Pocket God (isn't all touch, but is playable without worrying if you tilt your ipod) Space Deadbeef (free shooter app, simple but hey, it's free) Archers (bowman something rather, simple and also free) I dunno, I just enjoy these games more because it's less hectic than trying to do something I'd normally do on a thumbstick or too with the entire device. Just an opinion anyways. I like touch games. They're easy and simpler to my mind i guess. I'm pretty straight foreward with games.
