Besides backing up? I just don't think backing up apps onto an external HD or whatever is practical because it's a long and complicated process to learn and restore them every time I reformat my pc every few months to get a clean start again. I tend to download apps over and over again so the history option isn't too helpful since it's so cluttered. I know appshopper lets me record my apps onto the site but I'm just too lazy to do that every time I download an app, especially when I'm doing it just through the phone. I've already forgotten half of what apps I own and purchased because I'm always buying more! The only ones I can recall are looking through big name devs since I usually purchased most of my games through their colllection :-/
do you have a Mac? If so, there's a unreleased tool to sync your apps up with appshopper I can send u. arn
You can simply go through the emails from AppStore as they mention only the apps which you purchased and do not repeat in case you re-download or update them. Also if you use a gmail account for such emails then you can simply label those mails from apple so that they are sorted out for you automatically and you wont have to search again n again. That would be an awesome feature. WHen do you plan to go live with it?
What do you mean by emails from appstore? I did archive my itunes reciepts but it's just too much to wade through. I only found it useful for seeing if I bought an old app already or not.
I use an excel sheet. Everytime I buy something I make an entry. I also make an entry for every free game I've ever downloaded.
Yup. I meant the receipts only. You can label them in gmail so that they all show up together and you don't need to search for them every time. Not the best of solutions but at least a 100 times better than going through purchase history IMO Also, did you try out that appshopper beta arm was talking about?
Applications page in iTunes 9 can now display applications in Detail/List format. You can just take screenshots of the itunes and you'll have the list/s of all apps you own. Not as ideal as keeping track in Excel, but ok for a quick solution.
