Am I the only person that really doesn't like the art style for this game? I know it can't really be any different, but I hate the way it looks.
Hum, I checked the Hands-On by TouchArcade once again, and I can only tell what you've figured out for yourself: it can't be any different. In my opinion it looks way better than any other kart racer on the iPhone. I only bought Cocoto Kart Online, which is great fun, but it looks like a N64 game. And the other kart racers don't seem to look any better. I'm not happy about the way Gameloft takes care for its iPhone games. They don't seem to update or integrate new features in their games at all, like Hand Circus/ ngmoco does, for example. But I guess with Shrek Kart we can expect a very polished kart racer, and if(!) Gameloft really integrates an online mode, I'm very confident that it'll be the best kart racer on this platform. At least until ngmoco releases Rolando Kart.
I'm a little bit biased here (worked on Cocoto Kart), but from what I see the tracks look quite good. The characters on the other hand look really bad / static, the go-kart is oversized. It might be a restriction of the license though.
Gameloft announced that Shrek Kart will be launched with local multiplayer only, but an update for online multiplayer should be shipped later this year. But I suppose Gameloft is kind of shocked that Konami and Eurocenter already shipped two kart racers with online functionality (okay, cut out Konami), so maybe they delay Shrek Kart for the reason of adding online mode immediately for version 1.0. Who knows?!
