Honestly hype had a hold of me for a while. I really felt like maybe I should have one around launch, but now that the launch hype has died down my desire to get an iPad has too. For me personally, it doesn't make much sense. I mostly use my iPhone for internet on the go, the actual phone features, and mobile gaming. At home, I have laptops for gaming/surfing the internet on the couch/in bed and a desktop for more serious gaming. So for me, it's not worth it. I definitely do not think it's worth it for gaming ($500 will get you plenty of top quality home or portable console games or even a console or two itself). The only real reason I see an iPad being worth it is if you really think you'll use the media features (comic book reader, ebook reader, watching movies etc..). I don't really have a need or desire to use it for those reasons, therefore it's not worth it right now. Maybe in a year or two when the hardware is updated, there are more apps and possibly the games are better, I might reconsider.

    That annoys me too, lol.

It's ironic because some people go to loads of effort to makes sure their spelling is correct, and they capitalise the "i", when really it should be lowercase.
Even at the start of a sentence.

I'm going to return the 16gb model bought just 4 days ago from best buy. They and the apple store were supposedly sold out, but a guy mentioned having a few of the base models in stock, so I bit.

I'll post a more comprehensive set of impressions about the device later. if not for the screen glare, it would have been tempting to keep for movies and reading alone, but the glare - even in a medium lit room - feels like an additional layer between me and the device that defeats the purpose on some level. Wifi connection with my airport only dropped once, which was surprising. the glare, the weight of the ipad in my hands, the low FRAPS and shoddy appearance of several "premium" games (e.g. NFS and Mirror's Edge), and the inconvenience of syncing non-iTunes content are the biggest cons for me; why wait for updates that may introduce new visual flare while "fixing" performance issues, when I can just get rid of the thing and wait for a product that meets the hype? sketchbook pro is a great product btw, but even that is compromised by the excessive glare from the screen.

I must say, while I wasn't super hyped at first, I'm now lusting for an iPad.
I do the majority of my net surfing from the couch, and it would be nice if I didn't have to fire up the 6 year old, nut-burning laptop. or drain my iPhone battery. (which has been less than stellar lately)

it'd be sweet for traveling too. bigger screens are always nicer for watching movies, reading, and playing games of course.

I'm hinting at an iPad for my birthday coming up, otherwise I might pick one up after the inevitable price drop/update.
